Low output from T8302 MTX Thunder AMP

OK I just got this amp off a friend and it has low time use on it. I have checked all wiring and even installed my old amp until i can find the problem. I Think that one of the POTS might be shorted out and possibly even a transistor. I was driving home from work and had turned down the volume to the sub in the my head unit after doing so turned the sound up a little as it was real low when I made the adjustment. The amp went into protection mode and overheated. Now the amp puts out low volume and over heats when bridged. I have a 4 ohm Rockford Fosgate P2 in a custom box that this amp was powering. I have done all the external trouble shooting I have been able to find on here and a few other sites externally. Now I need a schematic and maybe some kind of idea where a good trouble shooting point inside the amp is. Any info on gathering this stuff would be great thanks in advance.

My mtx thunder 6500d amp hums when connected light turns on but no output

Make sure you have a proper ground wire connection. The ground wire should be connected solidly to the vehicle chassis in a paint-free location. If it is loose or there is paint t the connection site, you will have problems with the amp output. Also check the speaker wires to see if they are touching the vehicle chassis. This will cause a short circuit and you will not have output from the amp. Finally, check the leads from the head unit. They should be RCA cables, and should have a good connection to the amp.

I have a mtx thunder 421d. I've had it about 5 years, about a week ago it started going out from time to time. I checked my hot wire and fuses, they are ok.Now the amp stop working, and dont light up. Will...

If you have proof of purchase(invoice or receipt) showing the purchase date and you are still within the warranty period then yes it would be repaired by MTX under the warranty guidlines, and by the way MTX is great at customer service and they are great to work with(very fair)!!!!
Keep in mind that the seal on the bottom of the amp cannot be broken or that will void warranty coverage.
Give them a call, you will be glad you did!

MTX Thunder 81001 wont push subs

first of all you should check the minimal impedance your amp handles , if is class d it should handle between 1-2 ohms total impedance in a mono conection , meaning whatever quantity of subs you have hooked to your amplifier, their total impedance should the minimum the amp handles that way all the power from your amplifier will be used.

Subwoofers won't work and they are brand new

Hello,

I've got a pair of these MTX's subs powered from a Fusion 450 watt 2-channel amp. For the price, they are great. By the way, they are 4-ohm.

My first suspicion would be that something in the first incorrect wiring damaged either the amp or the subs. Can you explain specifically what the "installing the subs incorrectly" means? Was the amp output shorted out at any time or was it operated without a load? Either of these conditions will fry an amp and sometimes, the protection circuitry doesn't work either.

First make sure that your amp is still working. Check both the primary power fuse, usually located near the vehicle battery, and the fuses on both sides of the amp. Make sure that when you turn the system on, the power light comes on steady (blinking is protection mode). Test your subs one at a time on a speaker output.

THUNDER 5601 WHEN VEHICLE TURNED ON, SUBS BOOM, THEN WORKS OK. ALSO WHEN RADIO TURNED OFF

If the amp produces no boom with no signal input cables connected, I'd suggest using an LOC.

Mtx 1501D

if your power light is on then check your preamps (sub out from head-unit).Maybe you need to turn on that output thru head unit's audio menu. Also when using dual voice coils if you wire them out of phase there will be no output

Hi i have a mtx 1501 d

If it does it with no RCAs plugged in, the speakers or wiring need to be checked.

If the speakers and wiring are OK, the amp may have shorted output transistors.
