SOURCE: Bright spot on screen.

I'd say that's just the way they're made. The background light for the screen just doesn't illuminate evenly. If it's noticeable enough I'd try to get it replaced under warranty. This can also happen when the screen is pushed and it gets damaged, but if it's happened twice it's probably just the way they're manufactured.

SOURCE: Blue ghost image on the top left hand corner of my Hitachi 50V500A.

You have a defective light engine and you do not have to be under warranty for Hitachi to replace this part. We just went through this and here's what you need to do. Call Hitachi's customer relations department at 800-654-7013 and tell them that you have a defective light engine. They will act like they've never heard of this problem but they have. They will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area to call. Once a tech comes out and confirms that it's the light engine, call Hitachi back and they will send a brand new light engine to the dealer and Hitachi will cover the cost of the part (cost $1500).

Here is the deal, if you're under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part and the install. If you're not under warranty, all you pay is the install. Our install cost $400. Others on this site have paid $200. Do not let anyone tell you that you have to pay for the light engine part...you do not. Hitachi has not recalled this part but they are replacing it for free. Also, deal only with Hitachi customer realations number that I listed. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Toshiba 47" 1080P LCD 47HL167

Ok I have included some information that could be VERY helpful and given the correct credit to the original author. If you find this useful don't forget to rate the thread. Thank you.

SERVICE MODE WARNING:
Without proper documentation Don't mess around with the service mode adjustments unless you know what you're doing and have the service manual to guide you.
Once you enter service mode the first thing you should do is record all the original values BEFORE you change anything! - This is the only way to restore the television to its original (factory default) state should it become necessary to do so.

  • Sit in front the TV, you will need to be able to access keys on the remote and the TV at the same time. Turn the TV "ON"
  • Turn the volume all the way down to 0.
  • Press and hold the TV's front panel volume down button, and then press and hold the remote's "9" button for about a second.
  • The service mode will appear. \ -or-
  • Press "MUTE" on the remote.
  • Press "MUTE" on the remote again, but this time continue to press "MUTE".
  • While still pressing down on "MUTE", press the "MENU" button on the TV front. Release the "MUTE" button. You should now have an S (for service mode) displayed in the upper right corner.
  • Pressing MENU again should bring up the first service option Pressing the Channel Up/Down keys brings up the different service options. Pressing the Volume Up/Down keys changes the associated HEX value.
  • One you have entered the service mode, you can bring up the various test screens by pressing the "TV/VIDEO" button. For example, to minimize screen non-linearities, press the channel down key until PARA appears on the screen, with the associated default value (this is the parabolic adjustment option).
Then, bring up the cross-hatch pattern by repeated pressing of the TV/VIDEO button. You can then use the volume Up/Down buttons to change the PARA settings, this should cause the grid to bow in (concave) and out (convex). Adjust until the grid is the most linear.
The numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6 jump to different items. 9 displays SELF CHECK
The number 7 displays a grid. There's a blinking cursor in the upper left corner. The numbers 2,4,6,8 move the cursor. 3 cycles the colors (RGB), 5 stops the cursor from blinking, then when you push 2,4,6,8, you are adjusting the convergence at that point for the selected color. Pushing 7 again gives you a "warped" grid for a few moments. Pushing 7 again removes the grid from the screen.
If you're attempting to adjust color or geometry errors, you'll need the Video Essentials DVD, Laser Disc or some other source of test material.

I have a HIsense 50H7GB1 just replaced led strips now right half of screen is darker and video smears or lags only on darker side

It's possible that there may be a problem with the LED strips or their installation. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Check the connections: Make sure that all the connections between the LED strips and the TV's circuit board are secure and properly connected. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause issues with the display.

Check the voltage: Verify that the voltage being supplied to the LED strips is correct. If the voltage is too high or too low, it can cause issues with the display.

Check the LED strips: It's possible that one or more of the LED strips may be faulty or damaged. Try swapping the strips on the left and right sides of the TV to see if the problem moves with the LED strips.

Check the TV settings: Check to make sure that the TV settings are correct. Specifically, check the backlight settings to ensure that they are not set too low on the right side of the screen.

If none of these steps resolves the issue, it may be best to contact a professional TV repair service or the manufacturer for further assistance

My LG TV has suddenly become darker all across the bottom of the screen (10cm strip) it still has colour but is darker. In left hand corner it is considerably darker and depending on what you are watching...

Hi; your TV has burn screen or traces.it comes from one image left on the screen for too long, it can get burned into the screen, making it visible at all times. You can actually eliminate most screen burns with the use of a PC computer and a black and white screen saver. This trick eliminates screen burn after a period of several minutes because the black and white screens flash quickly, removing all traces of color from the screen. This will eventually eliminate any burned images on the LCD screen. you can do it by creating a DVD picture slide with only black and white image. you can use a computer to make DVD picture slide first go to paint brush and draw only white then save as white.jpg. second burn it into nero or other dvd burner third play it to your DVD player connected to you LCD TV.it has to be played in full screen let the white image display on your HDTV for several hours or even overnight. It should remove any burned-in images or ghosts. hope this help...............
    thanks....

Samsung syncmaster 914v monitor problem. right side of display is darker image. can see dots like a newspaper print or looking through a screen. when display is black it almost appears like an image is...

This is likely the LCD panel itself - you are describing a left/right image error that can be only created by the left/right division by the LCD driver wrapped around the outside of the LCD panel.
If your monitor uses a separate circuit board to drive the LCD, it could be this driver board.
Either way, it will require an LCD panel - $$$
