LED TV will not turn on

The red LED flashes 3 timethen the TV tries to turn on but then cycles back to 3 LED flashes.

  • Malcolm Lloyd Feb 28, 2014

This is a Samsung UE40C5800QKXXU. Plug it in and the Red LED on the front panel comes on. It then flashes off and on 3 times about once a second. It then blinks off as if the set is going to start. It is off for about 1.5 seconds then it comes back on and starts the 3 flashes cylce again. If I try to switch on using remote or TV mounted on button the LED flashes very quickly but the set fails to fire up. If I press the Vol up/down or the channel up/down on the front panel the LED flashes very quickly. Suspect a Power Board issue but dont want to buy one to discover it is the AV or other board.

Its a power supply problem. A capacitor has gone bad. If you open the back panel - check the board of the power supply. It will have numerous capacitors soldered on to it. The faulty one will have its top surface - bulged out. Read the specs on it. Then buy a new one of same or higher rating from radioshack. Replace it. (To do this you should be familiar with the art of soldering. If not take help from an electronic technician)

Have grundig gu22dvd tv and can not get volume on the sky remote have tried the normal things and have code but still doesn't work

Try an auto search with the remote, you might have already tried it :

1. press tv

2. press select and the red button simultaneously untill the LED light flashes twice

3. Then keep pressing the TV and Standby buttons one after the other (not at same time) until the tv swithches off, then press select to store the code, the LED should flash twice to confirm this.

Once you have the remote working the TV, you can get the remote blink back the TV code so you can write it down for future reference.
  • Press the TV button on the Sky remote
  • Hold down Select and the Red buttons together for approximately two seconds until the LED blinks twice
  • Key in 9, 9, 0
  • Key in 1 on the numeric keypad and count the number of times the Red LED blinks. This is the 1st digit.
  • Repeat for 2 and 3
  • Note: no Blink = 0 (zero)

I bought a universal jumbo remote and i followed instructions i to program it to my Jvc tv but it does not work can u help?

Make sure you try every code in the list for your JVC TV.
The codes for your Jumbo Universal Remote to control a JVC television are 013, 054, 055, 060, 065, 067, and 089.

To program your remote by entering a code, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button for at least 3 seconds until the red LED lights up and stays lit.
  3. Press the TV button on the remote so that the LED blinks once and then remains solid red.
  4. Enter the first set of 3-digit codes from the list. The LED will blink once every keypress. After the 3rd digit, the red LED will turn off indicating that the code was recognized for the device. If the code was not compatible, the LED will flash several times and you need to return to step 2 to try that code again or to try the next code in the list.
  5. After the LED has turned off, aim the remote at the TV and press ON/OFF. If the device turns off, you have used the correct code and the remote was successfully programed. If the device does not power off, return to step 2 and try again with the next code in the list.
To have the remote try each TV code it knows one at a time, follow these steps:
  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button for at least 3 seconds until the red LED lights up and stays lit.
  3. Press the TV button on the remote so that the LED blinks once and then remains solid red.
  4. Press the ON/OFF button slowly and repeatedly until the TV turns off. The LED will blink once each time you press the ON/OFF button.
  5. Once the TV turns off, press the ENTER button to store the code and the LED will turn off.

I hope that helps.

Panasonic projuction screen tv.

3 blinks is the error code for the convergence ICs. You need to replace both STK392-110 convergence ICs. You can get replacement ICs at the following link and they provide installation instructions with pictures.

Tv will not turn on--- flashing red led

I'm sorry, I don't have a solution, but I seem to be having a similar problem. When I turn my TV on, the green light comes on like it's powered up, but then the TV turns itself back off and the red LED light flashes. I can't do anything to turn it on or anything.
