Surely the monitor lets you change it's 'standby' settings so that it doesn't show that; or change your computer's power savings modes not to include standby?

Your video card and computer memory may not be sufficient to run in the recommended "optimum performance mode" that Samsung and Windows both suggest. Please try setting your display setting at a lower resolution such as 1080 x 760 which is still quite excellent. Otherwise you may need to buy a better video card or increase system memory to run the higher mode graphics.
Good Luck!
Eliminate your graphics card / chip by trying a different monitor, if this works ok, then your ssue is probably with the backlight in the monitor, needs qualified technichian to fix it
Please try to connect your monitor to another PC, if still the problem exist, then probably an internal electronic part/s is cold soldered / defective, which I suggest to bring the unit to an authorized service center to fix the problem. regards

Additional information about what causes black borders on computer displays.
I have had it happen and used auto adjust, also turn off moniter and wait turn back on. Cured it, then I veiwed a video and boom same problem again? Gotta play with it, use buttons on side to bring up and scroll through menu, try differant things
I've had a similar problem. I took apart the monitor (it was out of warranty by that time anyway) and found the lamps would not stay on. They'd flash for a split second before remaining unlit. I tried hooking up another LCD monitor's lamp to the Samsung, and even though I knew the other lamps worked fine, they exhibited the same behavior. Looks like something's wrong with the circuitry. The LCD actually does display the desktop on screen correctly. It's just the lamps refusing to stay on.
