SOURCE: Computer Memory Help!

I would not do it since your computer is recomended for pc 4200(533) and that chip set is recomended for pc6400(800) this matters for the life of the other components not to mention that your computer won't post and could cause dammage, even though your board supports dual channel ddr2 , and I think you should get some memory that is not going to wear your computer down so that you end up having to worry about other repairs also , stay within the recomended speed , so no i wouldn't use those chips in there , and i wouldn't advise someone to do that , but i can see the deal you were looking at!

SOURCE: I want to get a new video card But..

For Motherboard interface:

mini tower version of the Optiplex GX520 appears to have one PCI Express Slot. other cases don't appear to have anything.

Check the photos on the link below to match up your form factor

http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/optix_gx520?c=us&cs=28&l=en&s=dfb

For monitor, make sure you have a DVi port or something like that & that your card has a matching port or that you can get an acceptable adapter. If monitor not DV capable, HD video card will not help you much.

Thank you for replying,
As per the diagnostic LED's, it is an issue with Video initialization failure. Your computer has onboard Graphics which is built into the Motherboard.
Video Initialization failure could happen if there is :
Unseated AGP card
Bad AGP card
Bad motherboard

As per your Svc Tag your system doesn't have AGP Graphics Card, Probable issue with MOBO.
This computer doesn't have a AGP Slot (Graphics Card Slot) to try connecting Graphics Card.
Need to repair/replace MOBO.

Thanks.

Dell front panel power light abcd lights yellow

Does the monitor go out completely, no power? Or just lose a signal? Check ALL cables, AC and Monitor cables. Could be a Graphics adapter issue or Monitor , try another monitor.Your computer has a few miles on it , right? You could buy a PCI Graphics card if the monitor is OK.

I have a dell 2400 desktop computer. I recently got FIOS and they hooked my wife's computer to their router with an ethernet cable. Can I also hook my dell up the same way?

Depends on the hardware. Is it a router or modem? Does is have extra ports in the back,

Router with extra ports, just connect new device with wire or even wireless if it has wireless.

Modem, most likey you have to buy a router.

Dell Dimension 2400 manual

Unless your TV has a VGA socket (it should be blue, have many pins and look just like the one on your computer monitor,) and an audio-in jack (it'll look something like a 3.5mm headphone jack,) you cannot connect the PC to your TV without other accessories. If it DOES have those ports though, just buy a two-ended headphone cable and an SVGA connector cable (unless you can use the one from your computer monitor,) from Monoprice.com, hook them up, hit 'input' on your remote with both TV and PC on and you're in business! Best of luck with it!

I have a 7 yr old Dell Dimension 2400 with a 17" Dell E171FPB flat panel monitor. Frequently, but not always, the monitor will flicker on/off every few seconds then go black for several minutes. It has...

Find somebody with an old CRT-style monitor -- they are essentially WORTHLESS -- because they take up too much space, and not as nice a picture as an LCD, and offer to take it off their hands. Use it as a "test" monitor.

Or, it could be the video-card in your SEVEN-year-old computer.
Try replacing the video-card -- some friend probably has a "dusty" and "spare" video-card that can be temporarily used.

Added 2gb memory (max) to dell dimension 2400 and now screen is jittery after startup and locks up. Any ideas?

Bad ram. Try pulling out one stick and starting it. Then try the other stick in the same spot.
