ASKO W600 does have a heating element and only requires a cold water hookup. The temperature sensor will prevent the advance of the cycles until the initially selected temperature is achieved. If the machine is cycling but not making hot water check the heating element and the sensor. The menues for the cycles allow you to choose temperatures; you can check that they are not set low.The warranty is 3 years and then years 4 & 5 ASKO replacement parts for any defective solid-state controls, timers, motors, or pumps. Turn it to the cold setting, See if it becomes hot by putting your hand under water flow. Be-careful not to burn yourself. If it works then switch hoses on rear of machine. / it was hooked up backwards.

When I put a wash on the washing machine blows the electrics across the whole house. I've tried changing the plug fuse and putting the washing machine on a spin and drain settings which works fine

This is concerning to me because a washing machine should not be able to cause all the breakers to open in the house. This could be related to the house more than the washer. However if the washer has a heating unit that raises the temperature of the water then it could be related to the heating unit failing. The failure could be a short. Try the wash cycle on cold only also there is not many sites that have info on this machine and none that sell spares with the heating element.

We have no hot water boiler kaput - will washing machine heat water (hot wash) if only cold water is going into inlets.

Yes. The washing machine contains heating element and a thermostat. It will try to get water from both hot and cold sources and will heat the water to the required temp.

Does the machine heat up the water

If you have only a cold water feed then all of the washing will be in cold water. Dishwashers heat up the water, but clothes washers do not.
