Not hard to do....IF you have some electronics experience...but are you sure you do not just need the dmd CHIP? it is easier to install. The chip=---and board is removed from the engine--AFTER the engine is removed. Then the rear cover on the dmd board is removed--the screws for the chip removed and the board should lift out. DO NOT remove the front housing--or you will need to re-align the whole assy. !!

I need the shematics to install A DMD chip in my Mitsubishi Model WD-C657

When you take off the back cover you are pretty much looking at the chip. Right in front of you in the middle of the light engine is a little fan.
Remove the fan and you will see a big metal heat sink / shield. remove the sheild and you will see a circuit board. in the middle of the board is the dmd chip.

Replace dmd board samsung hln507w1x/xaa

You will have a couple of problems here: This model may use 2 completely different DMD boards---need to get the right one.

Also, DMD is usually about 400 dollars and entire light engine with a new DMD is about 450-500-----they really don't want to sell them.

If you were to replace the DMD you would have to get at it (it is on the back of the optical engine and usually you have to remove another unit bolted up behind it, remove a fan in back of it and then release 3 long recessed bolts to take it out.

I did these and they are not easy---when you install the new DMD you have to POSITION THE DMD WITH THE SET ON---it will center the picture up/down and left right--moving it up slightly moves the picture down-----every action is opposite of what direction you move it.

Presuming you get it centered you have to tighten the three bolts slowly---as you tighten they tend to move the picture in some direction.

I think you get the idea---the DMD is not a "easy" part to properly replace.

The shop I work for---we have tossed several of these sets to be recycled as the cost of the part is more than the set is worth used.

If this information told you something you did not know, rate this solution as I do this here for free.

You may also want to contact SAMSUNG as there have been some programs where they will cover the replacement because so many failed and lawsuits were started etc.

Samsung tv HLN507W. Started out 6 months ago making a humming noice. Now it the screen freezes and goes black and white and the 3 buttons in the front are blinking. We turn it off and it will work for a...

I think you have a colorwheel with bearings that are noisy and theres no telling how long it will last . Could be days or years, just noisy. But a colorwheel will not cause a picture to freeze. Sounds like two problems- a questionable colorwheel and a failing dmd board .
Most likely your problem is on the DMD Assy Board P/N BP96-00249A . More presicely there is a few bad electronic components on that board that are bad. That board can be repaired by replacing the bad components (and the other few compoonents that are probly going bad and will soon cause your tv to lockup and lose remote and button functions when it fails so you will need to unplug it to get it on again).
Or the DMD board can be replaced .But it is not a cheap board.
For removal and Installation of the DMD board I would reccomend a tv service person because it is in the heart of the television and there are some adjustements to be made when the new board is installed.
To get the new board you could probably find it by just gooogling the part number.
Component level repair would require some experience in desoldering and soldering SMT,SMD , and or surface mount components. The actual components are about $15.00 total so just repairing your board should cost about $125.00 by a qualified servicer (if you were to remove and install it yourself). This DMD board is used in many models and can has few common problems.

SYMPTOMS:
-Intermittant picture freezing with a negative looking B/W frozen picture.
-Intermittant loss of pic with/without shutdown
-abnormal color wheel noise if attempted to start right after shutdown.
-lockup of tv control functions . Remote and front keypad do nothing , TV must be unplugged to reset .
-horizantal tearing, distortion , flippnig , solarization , red picture, leading to blank screen and lockup.(tv menu would be affected by all picture defects if caused by DMD board).
Hope this helps someone..

Check Fan No. 2 Error Message

The DMD board you installed is bad. It senses the detection line from the fan and generates the error code. Try installing the old DMD board.

I'm getting white spots on the screen on my Samsung HL-R4264W TV. i heard there may be a free fix from Samsung. does anyone know who to contact?

Hello! Those white spots are most probably to be the DMD board, I'm not sure Samsung will fix it for free, you will need to call them and ask. The board is not that expensive. on the other hand, the installation will need to be done by a technician since it's a board and you want to be very careful with the boards that are around it.

Dot all over tv samsung hls4266wx/xaa

You need to replace the dmd board. In some cases it is more cost effective to replace the entire optical engine which includes the dmd board, lamp, ballast and color wheel for about the same amount of money and is easier to install.

Green Plaid lines on Samsung HLR5067wax/xaa-

These are the Tests that should be run to determine which board is bad.You should call a good TV Tech if you are not familiar with this TV.
- The DDP1011 on the DMD board has a feature to display internal test patterns.
- DNle, which is an end port in the digital board, has a feature to display internal test patterns.
- The analog board sends signals to ADV7402 on the digital board.
- The analog board is the first output and the digital board is the second one, followed by DMD, which is the final one.
■ Diagnosis By Module
1. Access Service Mode
(In Standby mode, press "Mute", "1", "8", "2" and "Power" to turn the screen on and enter service mode)
2. Check if there is an error in the DMD board
DDP1011 → TEST PATTERN → Press the right arrow key:
Options of FULL WHITE, BLACK, RED, GREEN and BLUE PATTERN are displayed on the screen.
If "Pattern" does not appear, this is a DMD board error.
3. Check if there is an error in the digital board before the DMD.
When the DMD board has been determined to be error free based on the test patterns:
FACTORY MODE → DNIe → TEST PATTERN normal display: no error in the digital board.
If "Pattern" does not appear, it may be from a DMD board or ATI error or there is an analog board malfunction.
4. Check if there is an error in the analog board.
Check for a power signal from the analog to the digital boards
