Hoover steam vac hose broken so I get no suction.

I have a hoover steam vac F58720900. It looks like where the hose connects to the machine under the black water tank the hose is cracked or come partially apart from the connection. Because of this I have no suction. How can I fix this? Is there some type of clamp I can purchase or some type of tape that will hold the hose to the machine. Can I just remove the broken part and rethread the hose and have a little shorter hose? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance JoAnne

Why will my hoover spin scrub steam vac upholstery attachment not suction?

With this model, check all hose connections and recovery tank lid. if you have good suction before you put on the tool it may be the tool that needs service. inspect the tube under the recovery tank for the round gasket and the filter inside the tank.

Hoover steam vac doesn't pick up all cleaning soluation when cleaning carpet? I have clean both filters

Please look to make sure the rubber ring gasket is still in place under the recovery tank. The tube on the bottom of the recovery tank must seal to the rubber ring to get suction.

How do you connect the stair and upholstery hose to the hoover steam vac

You can download your manual at Hoover.com under Service and Support - Download Manuals. It's acutally very easy to connect: With cleaner unplugged, open the hose connection port on the top of the suction nozzle (much easier to just follow the pictures than to figure out from my description) and plug in the short hose end. Plug the solution tube into its connection port on the side of the lower unit (in front of the wheel). You'll also want to check out the instructions for cleanup.

I only used it once or twice and then the suction stopped and I can't figure out what went wrong. Hoover Steam Vac

This model has suction as soon as you turn on the machine. make sure the lower tank lid is on properly and the tank is latched in place. check the hose attachment door if that may be open. There is a float in the tank that will stop suction whenit is time to change the water, make sure the tank is empty.

Brushes not rotating on my Hoover Steam Vac Dual

The brushes are all connected to a single shaft. This square shaft is connected to 2 sets of gears and then another shaft which is turned by an impeller (suction from the vaccum pump is used to turn the impell and thus the brushes). There are 2 bearings that the impeller shaft turns on. It's likely these are rusted up and just need a bit of WD 40. Took me 30 min to take apart, lube, and put back together. Remember, its plastic. If things won't come apart, look for another screw. Mine was a brand new unit and the top bearing was rusted.

Hoover steam vac

I had the same problem just before the impeller broke. Lower the handle and check the hose connection at the bottom is not broken. Turn the unit on with the handle down, then check the suction on the accessory hose, leae it disconnected. Take off the bottom container, and check the suction on the round intake tube (lower one towards the front), with the handle up and with the handle down. If the suction increases dramatically when the handle is lowered, the impeller is probably in it's self-destruct stage. (same as mine). Soon the impeller will break off, and BINGO no suction at all.

Good luck!

I can not seem to get the attachment for the upholstery cleaner to operate what am i doing wrong????

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The attachment works on the suction from the Hoover Steam Vac and it’s either a straight suction tool or a revolving brush, check the front of the machine to see if the is a switch to turn on and odd, also before you attach the upholstery tool check the end of the hose for suction, it may be that your upholstery tool may be clogged or the brushes are not spinning and a part may be broken. Feel free to check with you local vac dealer or a new or a good used part if you find out what is wrong. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Upholstery conversion

Take out the duct in front of the tank (#3), the hose end will have a duct on it that you insert in its place. This provides the suction for the hose. Don't forget to put that duct you took out back in place, or you won't have suction when you use the steam cleaner.
