With increasing frequency icemaking cycle stops and stops cooling cleaning light starts flashing though the cleaning cycle never starts. It will sit in that condition until you push stop, turn it off. When you push normal or twice ice thereafter it will restart as usual. Sometimes hours sometimes days it will work normally until cooling shuts off again and the cleaning light flashes. It can then be restarted usually immediately as before.

UN-PLUG YOUR REFRIGERATOR !!!!!! AND THEN ... THE FIRST THING TO CHECK IS FOR PROPER WATER GOING "INTO" AND "OUT OF" THE SMALL WATER SUPLLY SOLENOID VALVE (USUALLY LOCATED ON THE BACK OF THE FRIG.WHERE THE WATER LINE GOES IN. TRACE WATER LINE BACK TO ITS SORCE ... TURN "OFF" THE VALVE. USING AN ADJUSTABLE WRENCH, LOSSEN THE NUT AND ENSURE YOU HAVE GOOD WATER FLOW.LEAVE WATER "OFF" THEN GO TO THE BACK OF THE FRIG. AND REMOVE THE NUT ON THE "SUPPLY LINE SIDE" OF THE SMALL WATER SOLENOID VALVE.... THERE IS A STRAINER AND ORFICE JUST INSIDE THAT CONNECTION ... CLEAN IT !!! DO NOT POKE A LARGER WHOLE IN THE ORFICE. REPLACE ALL PARTS IN THE REVERSE ORDER THEY WERE REMOVED AND TIGHTEN ALL CONECTIONS. TURN WATER SUPPLY BACK "ON".AND PLUG REFRIGERATOR BACK-IN. (ALWAYS WAIT ALEAST 15 MINUTES TO RESTORE ELECTRIC POWER TO ANY REFRIGERATOR). NOW JUST SLOWLY LOOSEN THE OTHER NUT ON THE "OUT-LET" SIDE LEADING INSIDE THE BACK OF THE FRIG. SEE IF YOU HAVE WATER. IF YOU DO ... YOU VAN NOW CHECK TO SEE IF THE SOLENOID IS WORKING.... JUST USE A BUTTER KNIFE AND PLACE IT NEAR THE TOP SIDE(COIL) OF THE SOLENOID ... YOU SHOULD FEEL THE "MAGNETIC PULL" ... IF YOU HAVE DONE ALL THE ABOVE AND YOU STILL HAVE PROBLEMS ... CALL A "LICSENED FACTORY-CERTIFIED COMPANY" TO DO A "FLAT-RATE" DIAGNOSTIC CHECK ON YOUR CIRCUITS. ALWAYS GET A "TOTAL COST" ESTAMATE BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS OR SIGNING ANYTHING. NEVER LET A REPAIRMAN REMOVE AND LEAVE THE HOME WITH A DEFECTIVE PART AT ANYTIME HE IS THERE. (UNLESS THE PART IS UNDER VWARRANTY) NEVER BE AFFRAID TO WATCH AND ASK YOUR REPAIRMAN QUESTIONS. REAL PROFESSIONALS ARE HAPPY TO ANSWER AND SHOW YOU EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING... THATS BECAUSE THEY KNOW WHAT THERE DOING AND PROUD OF IT !!!!
SOURCE: Ice maker has ice in it but will not dump in bin!
before i would worry about the lights flashing lets pull the front cover off of the icemaker and verify that the drive gear is not broken.
on the bottom of the icemaker is 1 screw. remove that screw then just slide the entire icemaker out of the refrig so that you can access the front cover. if the gear is broken just replace the front motor module pt# 8201515
if the gear is fine then located in the toe grille of your refrig is a tech sheet that will help you troubleshoot red light blinking.

Hello
caswell_deeWelcome to Fixya
My name is Huum,
I made you a list of the 5 most common problems for the fridge not cooling!
But read my article at the bottom before you decide to repair a old blind folded fridge!!
Defrost Problem
Modern refrigerators are
designed to self defrost and it is essential to the airflow to have an
evaporator coil that is clear for air movement. If the rear interior
panel of the freezer has frost appearing, it is most likely a defrost
problem and must be corrected before temperatures can be restored to
normal.
Dirty condenser Coil
Check the condenser
coils for lint and restrictions. It is located underneath the
refrigerator and accessible from the rear. A dirty condenser coil will
result in poor cooling, especially in the freezer.
Low Refrigerant Charge
If the unit has a low
refrigerant change, the freezer will not reach proper temperatures.
This must be checked by a qualified technician due to EPA regulations
Faulty Condenser Fan Motor
The condenser fan motor
is found under the refrigerator near the compressor. This motor is
essential to proper cooling. If the fan motor is not running, there
will not be proper heat removal from the condenser and the result will
be higher than normal temperatures in the freezer and usually in the
fresh food section. Ensure the fan motor is running when the compressor
is on.
Here is an interesting article I just wrote!
Repair or replace?
When to pull the plug on your old refrigerator
It nearly always makes sense to undertake simple do-it-yourself repairs,
such as replacing a gasket on a refrigerator or a freezer.
Typically, you'll also find a troubleshooting section for more-serious problems
in the owner's manual.
Should you pay for a repair or buy a new model?
The answer depends mostly on the age of your refrigerator,
how much you bought it for,and the cost of the repair.
Follow these guidelines:
When a repair makes sense.
If your refrigerator is under warranty or less than four years old (three years for top-freezers),
paying for a repair makes sense.
Note that refrigerators under warranty might require service from a factory-authorized technician;
readers have found them on a par with independent repairers.
When a repair might be a wise choice.
If your refrigerator is out of warranty and is four to seven years old,
it might make sense to pay for a repair. Customers generally pay $100 to $200 for a repair.
But you might want to buy a new model even at this stage,
given that today's models are quieter and have added features.
Higher energy efficiency is another plus: Energy Star-qualified models made after April 28, 2008,
are 43 percent more efficient than conventional models built before 2001 and 56 percent
more efficient than those built before 1993.
When it pays to replace.
The repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new refrigerator.
Data also shows that it doesn't pay to fix a less-expensive top-freezer refrigerator
six or more years old or a bottom-freezer or side-by-side eight or more years old.
Thanks to better recycling programs, less than 10 percent
of a refrigerator you replace is likely to end up in a landfill.

SOURCE: kenmore fridge stopped cooling
sounds like its freezing up on you. check the drain outlet and make sure that its clear. also i would replace the defrost timer on this unit because its suppose to bring on the heaterfs to melyt the ice so thaat yoiu don't have to. they are around 30 mdollars at the appliancew repair store and all you need is the model number and serial number for the uit. after you get it it's either on the very top of the refrigerator section or in the very back. It has 4 wires going to it. good luck.
SOURCE: Compressor starts/stops alot. Compressor is hot coils are cool
The compressor is covered for at least three years, give a call to the number listed on the owner's manual to validate warranty and get the replacement.
Hello - Before using the self-cleaning cycle of the appliance, remove the broiler pan and any utensils stored in the appliance. Also remove any excess spillovers in the oven cavity. Allow the oven to cool before cleaning. During the self-cleaning cycle, the outside of the wall oven can become very hot to the touch.
Typically to set the controls for a self-clean the first step is to confirm that the clock shows the correct time of the day. Press CLEAN. "---" appears in the display. Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW once. "3:00" appears in the display for a 3 hour cycle. To change to a 2 hour cycle press DOWN ARROW"2:00" appears in the display. As soon as the controls are set, the motor drive lock will begin to close automatically and the "LOCK" indicator light will flash. DO NOT open the oven door while the light is flashing (it takes about 15 seconds for the over door to lock). "CLn" will appear in the display during the Self-Clean cycle and the "LOCK" light will glow until the Self-Cleaning cycle is complete or cancelled and the oven temperature has cooled.
When the Self-Clean cycle has completed, the time of the day or "End" will appear in the display window and the "Clean" and "LOCK" light will continue to glow. Once the over has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened. If "End" is the display and the Clean indicator light remains ON, press CLEAR/OFF. The time of the day will appear in the display.
If it becomes necessary to stop or interrupt a Self-Cleaning cycle, press CLEAR/OFF. Once the oven has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened. Restart the Self-Clean cycle once all conditions have been corrected.
