Elec. (bass) Guitar Buzz comming from guitar pickups when using Aviom and headphones

Everytime I record electric guitar in the studio using Aviom and headphones I get a buzz on the the guitar channel. The buzz is less when the strings are touched. This is the strange part. When the headphone is not on the payer his head the buzz is gone. So it's only there when he uses his headphone. When turned more towards the Aviom mixer the buzz is getting louder. I realy dont know what to do to eliminate this noise. Same problem with different guitars and players. Though some guitars do react more to this electric field than others. But they all buzz when using headphones and Aviom. Same problem with bass guitars.

SOURCE: Buzz coming from elec. guitar pickups only when using Aviom and headphones

It is a definite pickup grounding issue causing hum/"buzz" which diminishes when touching strings. Check the impedance of cable jack inputs and cable which should be 1/4"mono input/output jacks) . A personal preference but effective is to NOT run guitar direct into mixer but through an external amp w/ a headphone out jack . Noise gating/preamp filter also will help eliminate the "buzz"/noise from pickups. It is unfortunately the nature of the "electro-magnetic" beast when it comes to electric guitar pickups .Hope this helps.

I am trying to wire a Delano 4 conductor pickup with a simple volume and tone control harness wiring into my Ibanez Bass guitar. I am new at this and just getting a buzz when testing.

If you are getting a buzzing sound, the ground connection is wrong. If you google how to wire an electric guitar there is a lot of info on it.

Guitar string buzz

What you need is a complete set up as your truss rod is out of adjustment and bridge is too low. Your local guitar shop can help you out for around $50.

Fret buzz only on E string. Adjusted truss and action, and still buzz. Some relief when I turn bass knob higher than the rest

This sounds like a worn nut groove. The string is sitting too low. Does the buzz happen all the way up the neck or just on open string?

Cant get the buzz out of the high E string on my Epiphone les paul guitar

A buzz on one string is not due to a pickup fault. It's rather a too low string height at the nut or a string slot that is either too wide or has too deep of an angle towards the tuner. It could however be that you had the pickup too close to the high E string creating excessive string pull.

Ephiphone guitar pickup wiring

Or a bad solder connection on the ground wire on the jack, or shell/sheild on the guitar.

I have a grounding problem with my new Ibanez GSRM20 bass. I don't have an amp, and run the bass directly into a recorder (home studio) and headphones. There is a hum that disappears when I touch...

You need to ground the recorder. Use a WYE connector to get access to the barrel of the guitar cable and find a good ground on a three wire cord wall receptacle. You don't say what model recorder you have which would have been helpful to us. We are surrounded by electric and magnetic fields and typically you can pick up 10 volts AC (with no real current) just as an antenna from the building wiring. Many music devices that run on "wall wart" power adapters have this problem. Also keep guitar away from wall warts as they emit strong magnetic fields for those that use conventional transformers.

You might find it at http://www.mediawebsource.com/guitar/pickup.htm If you can figure out what brand the pickup is you could check the manufacturers site. http://www.guitarelectronics.com/category/wiringresources/ has original factory wiring diagrams for guitar and bass for various pickup manufacturers.
