The door that keeps the batteries and memory card will not stay closed. Can it be fixed?

Mine is broken also. There are 2 tabs in the cover and 2 raised slots on the camera body. When you open the battery compartment, you are supposed to slide the lid forward releasing the tabs from the slots, before the cover pops open. If you don't do this, you ~will~ break the tabs (or the raised slots). Well someone who didn't know this got a hold of my camera tried to force the compartment door open, breaking the raised slots that are part of the camera body.
Take a close look at yours and figure out how this latch is supposed to work and then see which part is broken. If it's the tabs on the door you can buy a replacement door online (do a search) and have someone good with electronics install it. (requires soldering). If (like me) it's the slots on the camera body that are broken, then it's not repairable. The original parts are too small and flimsy to be repaired (designed to fail). My best idea is to find some other way to latch the door closed. I've tried a velcro strap but it doesn't hold the lid tight enough and I've looked in hardware and craft stores for some kind of latch that might work, if I could atach it to the outside of the door somehow, but haven't found anything suitable (it would have to be small but sturdy and attach to the thin plastic of the door)
I'm thinking of taking it to a jeweler because they work with very small parts and might have something that could be screwed into the plastic door and camera body.
If you know of a better fix, please let me know.

I can't get the power button to stay on and the camara keeps shut

Hi,
Battery lid will be replaced as its tabs could be broken that hold and lock it in its place. I'm talking about Sony DSC-S500 camera.
It can be replaced easily, let me know if you need part number info.
Thanks.

Problem started with battery door

The door has an interlock on it. You probably broke the door. The door on some of these cameras can be replaced from the outside. You must make sure the interlock switch is not broken as well. The tabs on the housing of the camera can get bent or snapped off if enough force is used.
A broken door will be $75 there abouts, installed.
A broken detect switch, adds about $45 (A board).
A broken case may set you back an additional $75

One side of the door on my Fuji s300 where the card goes in has broken off. The other side is still intact. Right now I keep the door closed with a piece of duck tape. Can the door be replaced and where...

Didn't fix the problem. Part not available so duck tape will have to do until I'm forced into another camera. I like this camea but both Fuji's I purchesed had the same problem with a door. The other was the battery door where the tabs that kept the door closed chipped off so the door would not stay closed.
I will not purchse another Fuji.

Camera will not turn on

If it is still in warranty, it is better to send it for repair with canon or with the extended warranty company.

If it's not in warranty, then you have to send it for diagnostics and repair.

The reason for won't power on may be a number of reasons:

1. Damaged switch that senses when the battery door is closed (or a broken tab in the battery door that presses the switch);
2. Damaged switch that senses when the CF memory door is closed (or a broken tab in the memory door that presses the switch);
3. Defective DC/DC power board;
4. Defective main board

Diagnosctis and repair of this problem requires a repairman with skills and tools to do it properly.

Depending of what is broken and to whom you send your camera for repair, the repair cost may be in in the range of $100.00 - $200.00.

Fuji F650 won't turn on

Check the underside of the battery door. There should be an "L" shaped tab which presses on the shut-off switch. These are often broken off when closing the compartment. If it's broken off, you can defeat the switch by stuffing a piece of paper in it, and then closing the door (with battery installed). If the tab's not broken, you're probably in need of the service department.
