Hi, my Jenn-Air #JF12089AEPO bottom freezer drawer is beeping consistently and the temperature reading shows 18 degrees Freezer Max Temp. There is also a dry frosty crust on most of my frozen foods. How can I get it to stop beeping and keep the temperature from climbing?

Make sure the freezer drawer and the refrigerator door are shutting properly. Sounds like air is getting in causing the frosty crust. Also be sure to reset the controls back to the original mid-way settings and allow a day or so for it to balance, if you have turned the fresh food compartment down to a lower temp it may cause a similar condition.

If the ice build up is only on the back panel of the freezer then you have a defrost problem. Most likely a defrost thermostat or control board/timer. If frost build up is around the walls of the freezer then warm air is getting into the freezer. Most likely cause of this would be gaps in or torn door gasket or door alignment. In some cases the door was left cracked open. If gasket and door alignment is ok remove the frost and see if it comes back.

SOURCE: Fridge not keeping food cold.

When you open door to freezer do you hear a fan inside that compartment blowing? If you don't the fan motor is shot and will need to be replaced.

SOURCE: Jenn-air side-by-side: freezer & frig cold on the bottom not top!

It sounds like 1 of 4 things...
1. It could be related to the evaporator becoming Iced over and when this happens it insulates the area iced over and the temp rises...this is caused from the defrost cycle not being activated...(Thermostat, or loose or broken wire)
2. There is a device called the thermistor which senses temp and Ice build up which will cause the unit to go into defrost...this could be bad.
3. The previous fixes may cost a little but not as much as the next which could be a restriction in the evaporator. This is serious and usually requires the replacement of the same...very pricey. Is there only 2 compartment or a pull out drawer for freezer foods..If so you could have an isolated problem in the upper freezer compartment which may be remedied without great cost

If your husband or yourself ..or a handy person can access the back of the freezer by removing the back panel I'm sure you will find either lots of Ice good..as far as cost to repair goes....or no Ice...bad...bad.. as far as cost to repair..the later falls in line with a restriction.
I hope I have helped....please rate me ...The Fang

Refrigerator temperature may also change due to the door being opened too often, someone else changing the temperature settings. It could also be caused by a failed electrical component.

I have a KitchenAid Refrigerator Model Number: KBFC42FTS. Bottom drawer freezer over cools -10 degrees.

That's interesting, -10 or colder is too cold and something is defiantly going on. This unit is controlled by a mulitple control boards, temperture sensors and other components. Question, what is freezer temp set at? Try increasing it by 3-4 degrees and see if that changes anything. Beyond that, I'm going to change the temp sensor first before doing any of the control boards. #29 is the temp. sensor. Good Luck

Liebherr refrigerator freezer model # cs 1601 79-362-3844 index 101/237 had an inch thick of ice on the bottom. I turned it off using the on/off switch for the freezer and left the refrigerator on.

Is the fan running inside the freezer? To see that you have to remove the back panel of the freezer. Also how much stuff are you putting into the freezer please make sure you are not blocking the vents inside the freezer. Also when you remove that back panel ensure the vent tubes to the fridge area are not blocked.

Freezer temperature fluctuating way up and down. 0 recommended. 11 degrees right now. 18 earlier. Food defrosting. Ice cream soft. GE Profile bottom drawer freezer. Only 3-4 years old.

Your problem could stem from an issue with the defrost timer, the compressor or its attachments (e.g.: relay, capacitor, etc.), or the freezer/evaporator fan motor. Contact an appliance service company.
