Constant clicking from freezer fan that won't start

Constant clicking sound from fan in freezer and the fan will not completely start.  Never actually hear the compressor start either.  There is also a green wire behind the plastic light cover in the freezer that has a metal clip but nowhere to connect it to?  Has done this several days and sometimes is able to start.  Have unplugged several times but problem persists.  Looked at computer board but afraid to touch it!

Now I have found that I can lift the cover over the freezer fan and manually start the fan, but this can't be safe for a girl!

Hi, I have the same problem. My water & ice dispensers are not working and the fan is making a clicking noise (like it's trying to turn). Any advice?

Could be the defrost cycle is not running properly and the fan has ice on it.

My Viking Freezer is three years old. The problem is the constant roaring sound it makes. No one can sit in my kitchen, family room or living room for very long before the noise from this freezer gets on...

There are several fans on your unit one on the top with the compressors, one inside the freezer, and one at the bottom. If you open the freezer and the noise gets louder or stops then you know it is the evaperater fan. Sometimes the bearings start to go and they make louder noise. Also check on the back wall for frost you could have a frosting problem and the fan blade is hitting on the ice

Beeping sound coming from control panel model#10656562400

Hi!
Self-defrosting refrigerators use a circulating fan to move the air through the freezer and refrigerator compartments. This fan runs whenever the unit is cooling. The fan is located in the freezer.
Over time, the fan may become noisy--usually making a chirping or squealing sound, though it may make a loud groaning noise instead.

To find out if the fan is causing the noise, just open the freezer door and push any fan/light switches. If the noise is louder when the door is open, the evaporator fan motor is the cause which can't be lubricated or repair instead required to be replaced.

Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Freezer drain freezes, and constant clicking noise

This clicking noise is a bad relay.
Get it serviced before you run in to a real problem

Freezer not working , clicking noise coming from fridge

Clicking was a relay. Replaced relatively inexpensive relay and now working fine.

Maytag refrigerator clicking

it sounds like a bad:
  • ·       start switch (on the side of the compressor) or
  • ·        compressor itself

the start switch clicks  off usually when the compressor is pulling too many amps or the compressor is overheating. if the compressor is not even running then its probably not overheating.
so either the compressor is pulling too many amps (bad compressor) or the start switch is bad and cannot handle the amps required to start the compressor.
