No it won't be a software issue. If it worked before, it should work the next day without needing software. It has failed and needs repairing.

If you are using a external drive, it could be broken, did you check?

Hi Mark, I understand it's something to do with Air version 3.5
I think the interim workaround was to roll back to version 3.4! (if you can find it)
However, can I suggest 2 workarounds?
1) Download your programs for playing on Windows Media Player selecting it from the 'other download options'
I use this method myself, and it doesn't seem to be as hungry for system resources as does iplayer.
2) If you have your computer set up with 'system restore' enabled, then you can roll your system back to a date prior to when you did the Air update. Then, DON'T allow the Air installer to update again :-)

The multiple images were probably selected from your 'Video Effect' menu
Launch the logitech toolbar
Click the "Quick capture" ( 2 reel clips picture ) on the toolbar to start your webcam and test your drivers are working ok
If you have muliple images, keep the webcam running and click on the video effects ( 2 theatre masks ). Ensure no effects are selected and finally trim the image by selecting 'Settings' ( 2 gear wheels ) and fine tune your image. Use the Advanced tab to change the mirror images if necessary

Reels for RCA Reel Media Center and Spirit of St. Louis are 7.5 and specaility reels that will work ONLY on these (2) machines. I bought RCA Reel Media Center several years ago and it came with only (1) tape! I stocked up when I finally located a vendor that had them for sale.
I have (50) of the reels new in the box if you would like to buy them I am willing to part with some of them.

As for the reels, there are 2 possible solutions:

1: Try to find new old stock reels. The website for Polyconcept
USA (which made the Reel media center) has been down since 2008, so the company may have gone bankrupt.
I found one internet shop that may still have blank reels for sale: www.americanbargain.com/product.asp?productid=7008

2: You can use 1/8" Nagra reels which are still being made, the tape is the same 1/8"(3.175mm) width as the tape used on the Reel Media Center.
The Nagra reels have a different hub, so you will need to improvise and make your own hub adapter.

First i need to know if the screen comes back on if you move your mouse. Because if it does the update changed your settings for power saving. To change this, either check the screen saver setting to make sure that is not on blank screen and if that is not the case go to Start Menu>Control Panel>Power Options and see what the settings under power schemes is. It will have two options, Plugged in and batteries. For plugged in Set the time To never and it won't turn your display off on you again.
