Check the torque on the head bolts. I can't tell you what it is, been a long time. If they are good, run it till it dies. Then check for spark at the plugs or coil/s. No spark replace the coil/s. My guess would be coils. But I have seen the head loosen up.

If it has a OMC or Volvo most are in the top of the outdrive. If your motor looks like a car engine it can be if the front just like a car. This website claims they have online access to repair manuals so I would look there first. Go to other websites and look for impellers with the brand of motor, like Volvo impellers, Mercruiser impellers and some of those sites have excellent parts diagrams.
