Need helpetting up wireless connection

WIRELESS ROUTER SECURITY
When you power up the wireless router and the LEDs are ON then the router appears to be OK and this also applies to the DSL or cable wireless modem. To check if the modem is configured to your ISP settings and the modem connects to the Internet, connect the modem with a LAN cable to your laptop and check if you can get into the Internet. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router's wireless settings configured and also needs the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers to be configured with the router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router. To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: - 1, Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA). The encryption key can be easily set up using a passphrase (it can be an alpha numeric phrase or words). 7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.

Twher can i find my wap pass phrase

The WPA encryption key is in the wireless setting of your wireless router.
Some later modelwireless routers have the Password (ie.Encryption key) and the SSID alreadyconfigured in the wireless router and this information is printed on a label onthe bottom of the router.
These settings can be used to configure the wireless card and wireless adaptersin your computer/laptop.
If these settings do not suit you, then it can be changed to suit yourrequirements.
The encryption key secures your data and wireless connection from unauthorizedaccess. To configure the wireless settings in the router, connect a LAN cablefrom your computer to the wireless router, then open a Browser on your computerand enter the router's configuration IP address, then enter the admin login andpassword and then go to the wireless settings and configure the SSID andEncryption key.
The router's encryption key can be a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2key.If you use the Passphrase method select either WEP or WPA or WPA2 togenerate the encryption key. You can enter the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key with 8 to63 ASCII characters or 64 Hex digits.

I need to know the network key for my Linksys routerWRT54GL-EU in order to establish a wireless LAN to my PC (a Fujitsu moidel) Best regards, Preben Lund [email protected]

When you first installed your router, you used the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard" to"
* set an SSID ("network-name") for your network.
* set an encryption-level. Hint: use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'.
* set a password or pass-phrase for your network.

Enter that password. Or, rerun that Wizard, to create new settings.

Linksys 64bit passphrase

The passphrase is a phrase you create instead of using hex numbers (phrases are easier to remember than hex numbers) to setup the wireless encryption key.
To configure the Linksys wireless setting, connect a LAN cable from the Linksys LAN port to the computer's LAN port. Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
Then go to the wireless settings and configure the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption.
Use a passphrase to setup the encryption key

To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

I am using time warner cable high speed internet. and trying to connect my ps3 through a belkin router but it is not working. the wireless icon pops up from the router but what is a WPA Key??? HELP!!!

WPA === Wireless Protected Access

It's a level of encryption between the router and each wireless device, to add "security" to your wireless traffic.

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the network-port on a computer to one of the LAN ports on the router.

Restart the computer.

Start Internet Explorer, and connect to the web-server "inside" the router.

From this web-interface, you can set an SSID and set the encryption-level (e.g., WPA) and you can set a password/pass-phrase/pass-key for your wireless network.

Use the same SSID and password on your PS3.

What is wpa pass phrase while setting wireless printer

WPA with a Pre-Shared Key (PSK), also known as personal. PSK is entered as a pass phrase between 8 to 63 alphanumeric characters in the ASCII format at both ends of the wireless connection. Although PSK accepts a minimum of eight characters, for proper security, it is a good idea to use ample length and should not use a commonly known phrase. This phrase is used to generate session keys that are unique for each wireless client.

WPA pass phrase is a password for the wireless network to make it secured. You can obtain the WPA pass phrase when you access your router. Check the manual of your router for the address, username and password of your router. Go to wireless settings, you will see ther the SSID or Network Name, Network Key or the Pass Phrase and Authentication (WPA/WPA2/WEP). You can personalize the SSID,Network Key and Authentication. Remeber that for you to connect wirelessly the Authentication and Network Key on the router should match the Network Key and Authentication of the Printer or Computer.

I did not know my network key for wireless lan, Satellite L300 se

The network key is an encryption key ie. WEP/WPA-PSK key.
This key is configured in the wireless setup of the wireless access point or wireless router.
The key can be a hexadecimal number but most people use a Passphrase.
The Passphrase can be a phrase such as "I'm am so smart 12345" and this is used to generate the hexadecimal encryption key.
For instructions on setting up and configuring the wireless security for your access point (this apply to wireless access points and wireless routers), please click in this link and follow my instructions :-

Passphrase my isp does not have this information either

I understand that you are trying to connect the wireless adapter in your notebook computer to the wireless network being offered by your own router.

Login to your router's web-server, and query the pass-phrase it is using, or reset the pass-phrase.
