I have a ACEer 5315 model no ICL50 running Windows Vista. To say Vista is **** is an understatement. I want to switch to Windows 7 but guess I will need a lot more RAM for this. Can I upgrade Ram on this...

Hi,
I recommend that you switch to Windows 7 without upgrading your RAM. Windows 7 is a lot faster, better and uses less RAM than Vista. Recommended RAM for running Windows 7 is 1GB but I have installed them on a Centrino 1.5GHz with 768Mb of RAM and they run perfectly.
So make the upgrade to Windows 7 anyway and if you feel that you need more power then you can get more RAM.
Also, download Windows 7 upgrade advisor to check if your pc is compatible. Download upgrade advisor here.

I have pentinum4 intel(R) celeron processor 1.3 GHZ processor. I want to increase the speed of my processor without any hardware change. I have 40 GB HD & 512MB with windows XP RAM.plz help

you cannot change the speed of your processor unless your processor supports overclocking. however your processor does not support that.

if your computer is running slow try upgrading the RAM to 1GB.
also check to see whether you have unwanted applications running in the background

Vista RAM usage ?

The minimum recommended ram for Vista is 1 GB, generally accepted practical minimum is 2 GB. A 1 GB system will be kinda laggy. Maximum RAM for 32 bit Vista is 4 GB.

Vista Home Premium is roughly equivalent to Windows XP Media Center Edition (Has Media Center, cann't be put on a DOMAIN type network)

Vista Business is roughly equivalent to Windows XP Professional (Can Join a Domain, Doesn't have Media Center)

Vista Ultimate has all available freatures of Vista, you can do any windows function with Ultimate

HP Pavilion laptop freezes daily and i force manual shutdown

It sound's like there could be a compatibility problem, maybe corrupt file's, or missing start up file's, have you tried doing a window's update, or doing a disc check on the hard drive, go to my computer right click the drive then go to propertie's, click on tool's then click check now for drive error's. if that do'es not work you may need to reformat back to the original xp os.

Slow laptop dv 9208 w vista

If you're having Vista, you will need 1gb RAM minimum. Vista is resource intensive, concentrated more on graphics, and a lot of Hardware compatibility issues. Windows XP is fine and better as of now which runs great with 1GB of ram and a pretty processor of 2.0 ghz ...If you think of speeding up ur lappy better go for XP .increasing ur RAM will increase the number of apps that you can run productively at a time.

Microsoft Vista Too slow

Hiya what processor do you have in... its what & how your processor uses the ram available that would normally determine a happy environment. the minimum ram that Vista is happy and stable running on is 1gb.. so 1gb left over should in theory be enough to run all your office applications... what Version of Office are u running?

Have you recently installed an application that may be in conflict with vista?
Have you tried doing a virus and spyware scan? I would by process of elimination uninstall and reinstall programs to determine what... if any are causing any potential problems.
Do you defrag when necessary?

Try these first .. and we.ll go from there if necessary!
