I have a Scanport H21 desktop LCD monitor that had bulging caps & power up problem. Fixed for 3 weeks, Now dead again & won't come up. See image with flashlight though.

I have a Scanport H21 desktop LCD monitor that was having powering on problem. Took 10 minutes of pushing power button to come up then worked fine for hours. Found the 1000uf caps bulging and replaced them(all 6). Worked great for 3 weeks. No Problems. Then last night, turned on, came up as usual, worked fine 5 minutes & screen went black. Can see image with flash light & Windows sign-on logo. Took apart & all caps seem fine. No burn't parts, No bulging caps. What to do next ? I know how to read a meter, But no schematic. Read a suggestion to replace the large 470uf cap. But it's not bulging. Any help Please. Thank You .

Could be back-light or inverter or just a cable connecting them to the screen

SOURCE: I've got a Scanport H21 monitor that the green light comes on but has a black screen. Can not dring up a menu or "VGA IN" message.

You can try a different cable for VGA. Check if the port is lose. The green light is only indicating a proper power supply to the monitor. The display is very much dependent on the VGA cable. If your monitor also has HDMI port, you can try to connect using that cable (provided the display adaptor also has HDMI port). If nothing works for you, take it to a hardware engineer or local repair shop.

I am in computers. This is either a #1. display that is going out. #2. the video card fails some times, #3. or the monitor is not plugged in all the way. #4. The VGA cable is not firmly attached to the Momputer/monitor. Your VGA IN message that the computer does not have its signal to the monitor that the connection to the computer is good. God Bless

I have to hold the power on button down for several minutes to get the monitor to turn on, it attempts to but only for a split second.

Capacitors failing to hold charge, pressing the power button allows flow of current to the capacitors on the power board, which are then leaking the current rather than "storing" it, there is therefore insufficient charge to power the inverter with the jiuce it needs to light the screen.

Check capacitors for bulging or leaking ( better still get someone who is comptent to do it) . remember do not touch capacitors until 24 hours after powering off, as the can still retain a charge

Dell monitor power on and power light goes on and off

First place to look will be the power supply caps, look for caps with bulging top, post back what you see inside so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

H-21 scan port Dark Screen, If you unplug the green light flashes 2 or 3 times ending any activity until completely unpluged and plugged in again. My other scan port works fine using 1st monitor cables. I've used both ports on the graphics card. It's definately the monitor power supply or other componant.

H21 LCD Monitor -No display

With that many boards, it probably has a separate ballast (inverter) to run the lamps. In the power supply section, I would look for bulging electrolytics and bad connections. In the ballast I would suspect a shorted output transistor, a bad output transformer, a bulging capacitor or bad connections.
