How to set from pulse to tone on vtech 6.0 - Vtech Cordless 6041 Phone

Hope it helps, sounds like the phone should ALREADY be on tone dial out of the box.

Tone, unless your landline company is using antique equipment which only allows pulse dialing.

Enter the model of your VTech phone into the search box at http://www.vtechphones.com/support/general/manuals to download a copy of the manual. The manual will explain how to switch your phone between pulse and tone dialing.

There's a switch on the bottom of the base unit to switch between tone and pulse. It's marked "18" in the illustration on page 6 of the manual at

Usually there are two modes provided to all fixed line telephones. Tone mode and pulse mode. Pulse mode will dial the call slowly and Tone mode will dial calls quickly. Your phone is in Tone mode i guess. You need not dial the numbers again. Wait for few seconds and the call will get accomplished!

It sounds as though your system is set to pulse instead of tone, look for a switch on your phone to indicate pulse or tone, change to tone.

Here are the instructions for one vtech phone (may not be quite the same as yours but may work or give enough hints for you to figure it out):
Press PROG.•
Press ? or ? until the screen displays DIAL MODE: and the current setting.
Press SELECT. The current setting blinks.
Press ? or ? to select TONE or PULSE.
Press SELECT to save.

To switch back to tone dialing, hold down the SELECT button for couple of seconds. The display on the base unit will read PU indicating pulse dialing. Now press and hold SELECT to change it to TN (Tone dialing).

hold the select button down a few seconds until you'll see a 'tn' on the readout. this sets it to tone. hold it down again and it will set back to 'Pu' for pulse. i figured this out by accident. the losers at vtech never answered my question.
