Usual problem is a paper sensor (most likely a small lever) has gotten stuck.. find the paper sensors and reposition them

Cause
  • Only insert paper into the main tray or document feeder tray until it meets resistance.
  • Make sure the paper is flat in the main tray and the paper guide is adjusted to the width of the paper.
  • Do not add paper to a tray while the product is printing or copying.
  • Remove used paper from the output tray frequently.
  • Do not use torn, curled, or creased paper.
  • Do not use paper that has been printed on before.
  • Do not leave originals on the scanner glass. If you load an original in the automatic document feeder when an original is on the scanner glass, the original can jam in the automatic document feeder.
  • Do not combine different paper types and paper sizes in the main tray. Use only one size and type of paper in the main tray at a time.

SOURCE: hp 2355 all in one error message

mine HP was acting the same way after a jam. I contacted hp and they told me it was a hardware issue and that I would need to purchase a new printer. I found a KB on thier site for this issue. It involved removing both ink carts and then reseting the printer with the ink carts out. it seemed to work.

SOURCE: Lexmark X6570 printer - Cleared

Ok, the paper jam could be due to one of the following:

  • Check for paper in the paper tray
  • Check the size of the paper in the paper tray to see if it is the same as what the printer is set for.
  • Defective D-roller
  • Debris in the paper path
  • Gears not turning or broken gear
  • Defective paper tray
  • Broken input sensor flag
  • Defective input sensor board
  • Defective system cable 2
  • Defective system board
  • Exit Sensor flag (Fuser)
  • Exit Sensor board (Fuser)
  • System cable 1
First try a hard reset - unplug printer from power source, wait a minute and replug. If it still does not work, uninstall the driver, reboot PC and reinstall (or download latest version from lexmark.com.

If there is no bit of paper or debris stuck in the rollers, it would indicate something more serious, and in need of servicing. If your machine is under warranty, I suggest you take it back to the shop and get it replaced.

If your warranty has run out, then you'll either have to get it serviced or buy a new printer (whichever works out cheaper for you)

Hope that helps!
