First of all I actually have the Insinkerator Model HOT-1 instant hot tap which has the tank connected to the tap and it is all one unit. I recently replaced the thermal fuse on this unit upon reinstallation after holding water lever down I get luke-warm water so adjusted the thermostat to hotter and now this issue. I have tried several adjustments of the thermostat and same problem persists. When the handle is pressed there is hot steam present however it takes about 10 seconds for water to be dispensed and it is always cold.. I initially replaced the thermal fuse because the unit was not heating water at all. now perhaps I am having an issue with air in the system or could it be the thermostat? Any pro advice would be greatly appreciated!
This unit is set way too hot. The steam is pressuring the water out of the unit.
Testimonial: "Thank you for your suggestion Brad Brown however I had previously consulted the manual and the temperature screw was set right in the middle. In the last 24 hours I unplugged the unit and proceeded to run water through it for several minutes. Then I plugged it back in and it began to heat. After a half-hour I tested it and water came out instantly however it was only warm so I turned up the thermostat and tried again in 30 minutes but still only warm. Does this sound like a bad thermostat or is there anything else that could possibly go bad? Remember I have already just replaced the thermal fuse so it is odd to me for both components to fail at the same time. Thanks!!"
SOURCE: Insinkerator instant hot water tank leaking
When you cut the pipe it has to be cut square or it will leak . Try recutting the end of the pipe and then reinserting it. If this doesn't work then the only thing you can do is replace the fitting.

It may have mineral deposit buildup on the inside. You will need to consult your maintenance manual to see how to flush the unit and clear it of deposits. You can also contact Insinkerator for the information as well. You can use vinegar to clean it just like you would a coffee pot. Take the inlet supply off and using a funnel pour the vinegar in and turn the unit on.
Replace water heater if tank wall is leaking.
These things have short warranty period.
Stainless steel will theoretically last longer, but steel tank water heaters have replaceable anode rod to prevent rust-out.
