Apex asb 800 wont play, i plug it in to my TV via audio out and it wont play out of my sound bar

DO ALL THIS with the power OFF - All you need is power, and an optical cable... there are specific places to plug each end and they insert in a certain orientation..
Once you have power to the sound bar and the optical cable plugged into the sound bar and TV... power up both..some TV's will automatically recognize the connection, some will need to be programmed..(via the menu).. its not hard!! I can control the on/off of the sound bar with my TV remote. This is a simple connection..good luck.

You didn't mention whether you switched inputs on your TV for the different devices. Fix could be that simple.

Think you can set sound bar to play via Bluetooth .go into the settings of the tv and look for Bluetooth.when the sound bar is on make it discoverable and the tv will pick it up.if you don't have Bluetooth then check to see if there is an option switch in settings to use external speakers.check cable and also check volume on sound bar is not muted.also see if you can link the tv to sound bar via optical link cable as this is much better than RCA red/ white audios which tend to fail as people pull on the cable rather than the plugs when removing them from equipment.

the details you provided were very vague, however from my experience when a device is connected to another device via and audio capable hdmi cable, that device renders it audio output to the device its connected to and normally turn off all other audio outputs beside optical- I would assume there is an option in the blue ray player to turn off hdmi audio, which will in turn activate other audio outputs- you may also look for audio out port on your tv, it is ideal to connect the sound bar directly to the tv set audio out ports. To sum this up,
if you plan to use your player via hdmi cable you need to turn off hdmi audio output on the blue ray player and the plug an audio cable from your blue-ray player to your sound bar
you may also as i said connect your sound bar directly to your tv, the issue is most tv sets now a days do not have an audio out port, if you do then everything you play thru your tv will have audio via sound bar
there are several way to go here but unless your sound bar has hdmi av switching capabilities (im sure not) this is one of the most simple--Good Luck.

Try connecting a optical audio cable out from your TV to your sound bar and directly connect your 722 to your TV with HDMI.

This is how AUDIO works in HDMI setup, you can select the source to send the digital audio along with the digital video through HDMI, the receiving end HDMI sound setup must be set to receive the digital audio through HDMI. Otherwise the audio may be sent and received through analog audio ports (Red (Right channel) and White (Left channel) RCA jacks) in stead. Most of the new TV and DVD player use auto detection.
So please check the HDMI audio setup to see how the audio signals are set to be processed.

If you have the RCA audio output jacks on the back of you set all you need is the cables. Standard is Red & White. If you don't the jacks then you can use the audio out from a cable box, vcr or satellite receiver.

What it so far done, it looks pretty fine. I'd break apart the problem if is posible to do it, i mean maybe you have some other sets around the house or some friend who have them.

• i'd test the dvd/vcr in a different tv
• i'd test the tv with a different dvd

i would start over again the installation after this test.

the reason is to know if you can trust in those sets and second maybe with some other try the installation works
