Good Evening:

Hope that you are wellJ

  • There appears to be a shortage in one of your lines to you computer. But, before you replace anything, try these methods.

  • Shut down the computer.

  • Remove any CDs, DVDs or external storage devices (like USB keys or external hard drives) from the computer, if any are present, then press the power button to turn the computer on.

  • Press and hold the <F8> key as your computer starts. You need to press <F8> before the Windows logo appears.

  • If the Windows logo appears, and the system still fails to boot to Windows, shut down the computer and try again.

  • From the Advanced Boot Options menu, use the arrow keys to highlight Repair Your Computer, then press <ENTER>.

  • Click to select your language, and then click NEXT.

  • Log in as a user with administrative rights, and click OK.

  • From the Choose a recovery tool menu, click Startup Repair .
  • Once completed, click FINISH.
  • Click RESTART.

If I can be of further assistance, please let me know

And, remember; always include the type of Operating System and the type of computer you own, when you submit your questions. It simply makes for much faster solutions.

Have a wonderful weekend.

SOURCE: how to turn on wirelss on a dell inspirion

Ok now firstly you have to see whch inspiron laptop you are acctually using. The procedure is same in most of the cases and here it goes... If you are uing somewhat older inspiron 1525 then there is a wireless switch on left side.just slide it to activate it. On newer inspiron 1540 wireless switch is on keyboard itself...Check out the F2 key.Its the one for wireless now...In some cases you might have to push Fn along with F2.

SOURCE: Dell Inspirion Laptop Screen Randomly Flickers, Then Blacks Out

If this laptop is only a few monthe old, then it should be still under warranty. I suggest you return it to the supplier for repair or replacement under warranty. If you try to repair it, most likely you wil void your warranty.

If you don't have this choice then read the following info.
You most likely have a faulty CCFL lamp or inverter, To determine if you have a LCD screen, inverter or video card problem, read this and follow these instructions.
Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Check your computer bios settings. There is a power managment section. Turn off power managment or set it to os controled. Check dells support site for any acpi drivers that you may need. These are needed for suspending controls.

Hope this helps.

Dell inspirion 1545, turn the power on and the screen shows inspirion loading. then the fan speeds up and slows down then the pc shuts down

a laptop and all those we take out the old useless shorted battery now, and run on AC pack only , even for ever.

that is test 1.

the next most common failure is, the vents and whole PC is packed in lint and overheats, endless failures here.......endless.

all PCs slow down when too hot, by DESIGN.
first BIOS does that then Intel inside does it next.

Wireless issues with my Dell XPS/Dimension One desktop

Even if it's a new Dell, you may need to update either the drivers for the wireless card or the BIOS.

Also, verify which protocol your Dell is set to use (i.e. 802.11g, 802.11b, auto-select, etc.). Dell may have fixed to to a slower protocol for compatibility.

Start up and shut down

Extremely slow operation can be the sign of many issues. The first of them is the hard drive failing. (I suspect this as the most likely reason.) You should be able to run hard drive diagnostics from the F12 menu. If they fail, replace the HDD.

If the diags pass, then next thing I would look at is free space available. At a minimum, you should have 10% OF THE HARD DRIVE free for Windows to cache data. Dropping below 5% usually effect dramatic slow downs and below 2% can prevent internet access too.

Other possiblities include Virus/Spyware infection
