SOURCE: Dell Latitude D620 - Screen shows boot up, but then goes blank

Here are some easy things that can sometimes resolve this problem:
1) Sometimes there can be a static buildup on the mother board. Power off, remove the battery, remove the power cord and hold the power button in the on position for at least 30 seconds.
2) If that didn't work- Power down, remove the battery, remove the Hard Drive and memory modules and reinsert them. Try to power back up
If these things don't work, get back to me for some more ideas.
Hope this helps and have a super day!

SOURCE: Blank screen when computer is turned on

When you get the Dell splash screen press the F2 key to get into setup. Use the arrow keys to go down to Drive Configuration and press enter. Go down to Primary Master Drive and press enter. Is the Hard Drive listed there? If not, that is your problem. Press Escape then use arrows to go down to Memory Information and press Enter. Is all of your Memory listed? If not, that could be the problem. Press "esc" to get out of setup. If the Computer does not freeze while in setup I would suspect the Hard Drive is bad. Is the Pointer responding to Mouse movement or does it lock up? In your situation I would first try to Boot from the Windows CD. Write back and I can explain how to do this. If that does not work I would begin to test Hardware. Do you hear any Beeps when the unit is turned on? If you can, E-mail back with more Info.

SOURCE: DELL XPS 730X WON'T BOOT

If it is showing the logo screen, hit the DEL key before to enter the BIOS. Once you are able to enter BIOS, check out the settings and if can;t figure out what change to make, then simply load the defaults and check that all HDD and PAM, Optical device and other I/O devices that are present in yr PC otherwise open the side panel and check all the wireings for loose connectors. Unseat the RAM and clean the metal contact points and also the power supply fuse. Also check if the MB LED comes on after commecting the power chord. Since it was working a few days back I am sure that after this excercise it will start up again.................................sodeep

Wlan card disabled

The Dell Latitude E6400 laptop comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor for fast computing and an NVIDIA graphics card for video playback, gaming and Web browsing. The laptop has a built in Wi-Fi card, letting you connect to the Internet on-the-go. However, if you're unfamiliar with Dell or the laptop's factory installed Windows Vista operating system, you might not know how to enable to Wi-Fi.

Slide the switch on the side of the laptop toward the front of the laptop. This switch enables Wi-Fi connectivity on the Dell Latitude E6400. When switched into the back position, the Wi-Fi is turned off. Turn on your Dell Latitude E6400 laptop and log into Windows Vista. Click on the Windows "Start" button. Click on "Wireless," located in the Start menu's "Show" list. A list of currently broadcasting wireless networks appears on screen. With your Wi-Fi enabled, you can connect to any of these available networks. Secured networks ask you for a password when you click "Connect," while unsecured networks connect automatically.

Booting problem

Try putting the computer into safe mode by holding down on the F8 button and selecting safe mode during the boot process. Once you get to the safe mode screen and windows appears, restart the computer.

If that doesn't fix the problem you will have to restore Windows.
