Sometime the tv is perfect and other times you can hear tv not see a picture at all and it will automatically try to go on and off bout you can hear the tv and a woshing sound when it tries to show the picture
SOURCE: sound but no picture
This is a common problem that shops see every day... Due to the age, size and ultimately the heat this unit generates in several of the component areas it has developed ring cracks in one or more areas. The likely suspects are the convergence amps - this unit uses two STK392-110 Sanyo built amps mounted on a large aluminum heat sink. Or it coud be the vertical Ic, which in your unit is a LA7833 mounted on a smaller heat sink.
You'll have to remove the boards enough to look underneath and see where these components mount to the foil side of the PC board. If you inspect closely enough (get your reading glasses) you should be able to spot one or more of the pins in either of these two areas that are ring cracked. Simply re-flow a little solder on those pins and put it back together...
If any of this sounds too complicated call around and ask what a shop charges to comeout and solve this kind of problem (ring-cracking) causing intermittent picture loss. It shouldn't be costly.
Good Luck
