Film on dishes

After the dish waser runs all the dishes have a white scaley film on them

  • Anonymous Feb 08, 2009

THe solution given does _not_ help someone renting an apartment. I have the same problem and no-way is the apartment owner (a large corporation) going to even permit me to pay a plumber to make this modification.

I think it has to do with build-up in the drainage system, so that the dirty then rinse water never completely drains, instead putting soap film left over on the dishes/glasses/utensils.

There must be some product to put in the dishwasher then rin it (without dishes) to disolve any buildup in the filter/drainage system inside the dishwasher.

Use a rinse aid. However if you use a soap with a rinse aid already in it, do not use a seperate rinse aid with that. To much rinse aid will cause the same effect as no rinse aid at all. Run a product like Dishwasher Magic or Glisten through it periodacally. You can get these at the grocery store. Make sure your water is hot going into the machine by running hot water in the sink first.

The problem is hard water. this is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system and it actually filters the water going into the dishwasher. i tried everything to get my dishes clean but nothing worked until i tried this system. my glasses all had a white, cloudy look to them and it was terrible. you can get it at www.dishwasherfilter.com. it is very affordable and works amazing. the filter fits right under the sink and solves the problem immediately. if you use the discount code DFMTEN you will get 10% off

Leaves a white soapy film on pots, pans and dishes

Are you overloading your dishwasher? Are you loading the dishes in such a way to cover the water shooting up from the blades? Have you run your dishwasher a few times with no dishes in it, adding straight white vinegar to clean it out? How old is your dishwasher?

Motor and pump replaced still not getting dishes clean

Place a cup of vinegar in top rack corner (upright) and run an empty cycle to clean any build up.
Stop using any rinse-aid (jet-dry etc.), if the detergent you're using already has it included. Too much rinse-aid can create a white film on your dishes. A good way to check for rinse-aid build up is to run your fingers on the inside of the cabinet and check for a white powdery residue on your fingers. You can also run the dishwasher for a couple of minutes and check for excess suds in the water when you open it. Excess suds would indicate a rinse-aid build up.
Run the hot water at the tap before starting the cycle and make sure it's at the recommended temperature (120-140°F).
Good luck!

Whirlpool gold dishwasher leaves film on dishes

are you in a hard water area such as florida ? do you have a water softener? if so take a can of frozen concentrate orange juice and put the frozen hunk in the bottom of dishwasher and run for one cycle. the citric acid will dissolve undisolved soap . this works much better. than vinegar which will only remain through the first cycle and then drain out as for the already grey glasses wash them in a solution of equal amounts red wine vinegar and water with just a touch of dish soap using a sponge.
