You can adjust MTU from within the Belkin Router administrative console. You really should not be changing it unless your current ISP gives you a specific MTU setting, otherwise you could disrupt internet connectivity.

Default IP address: http://192.168.2.1
Default admin username: Administrator
Default admin password: <blank>
Be sure to set a password for your router!

This is the address where you change MTU
192.168.2.1/wan_pppoe.html

SOURCE: adjusting mtu settings

If you don't find a way to do this through the router, you could try downloading TCP Optimizer from Speedguide: http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php

You can adjust MTU settings using this tool (select 'custom settings'). It affects the registry, so you'll want to backup & create a system restore point before setting it up.

SOURCE: I need to increase my MTU settings on my router for Xbox LIVE.

You can do that by configuring your router. Look for the default ip address of yoour router, it can be found in your router's manual. After you found it, run internet explorer and type in your ip address (ex. 192.168.10.1). There you o just enter your username and password and your on your way to the configuration process. Go to internet setup and under DHCP Internet Connection Type you can change MTU there. Just give it a try...

Mtu is too low for X-BOX

You can change it manually via your router configuration page. Visit Belkin's website for the instruction manual. You might want to try a firmware update first before changing the MTU..most of the time it's automatic.

Why does my belkin g wireless modem router f5d7634 always disconnect every hour? i already turned the firewall off and yet it still disconnects from the internet. the globe led does not turn off but i...

You said that the Internet connection is dropping. It is a modem *** router.
If there is any MTU settings , then reduce the MTU.
For example If MTU is 1500 then reduce it to 1400.
Otherwise you will need to upgrade the Firmware of the router.

Mtu settings

Two things needs to be cleared:

1) Which connection did you talking about LAN/WAN?

2) Xbox live may not be up yet, can you verify it?

Most home gateway routers can only change WAM MTU for certain connection type (PPPOE), and cannot set MTU for LAN and other WAN connection.

To change MTU for PPPOE, going to WAN connection setting, and you will see the MTU options box. But do not change it unless your ISP told you to do so.
So make sure Xbox live is online -- I am no Xbox fun so I have no idea how it works, but just guess from your message.

I have two questions 1. How do I secure my n1 Belkin router? 2. My new laptop (Lenovo Think Pad T500) seems to have "issues" with the router. Internet video feeds are choppy and stall. Access to email...

Here is a link on how to secure your router:
http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&pid=F5D9230-4&aid=10177&scid=221
To correct the email and video issue, you may need to change the MTU settings:

Adjust your wireless router settings
  • Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1492 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page)
  • Adjust the following advanced wireless settings:
    • Lower the beacon interval from 100 to 50
    • Lower the fragmentation threshold from 2346 to 2306
    • Lower the RTS threshold from 2347 to 2304
This is the address where you change MTU
192.168.2.1/wan_pppoe.html.

You can download the user manual from the previous link.

Click on this link or copy and paste the complete link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

Belkin Wireless G Router F5D7230-4

This problems is due to the MTU (Maximum Transfer Unit) set in the router. I checked my Belkin and I could not find where to set it. It is usually under the advance tab in most routers.
I found a utility that will change it on the NIC card. Download and run DRTCP021.exe and set the MTU to 1452 if you have DSL or 1500 if you have cable. Set the MTU # in the MaxMTU box next to the NIC card shown.

copy and paste the complete link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

I need to change the mtu settings on my belkin f5d9230-4 router

You will need a PC that's wired or wireless through the router.

1.) Open Internet Explorer , type 192.168.2.1 in the address bar and press Enter.
2.) A windows will pop up for username and password. Type admin for both. If it does not accept admin, type the username and password that you set the first time you setup your router
3.) On the Belkin web interface click the WAN tab (left side of the screen) > select Connection Type and look for an MTU box (lower part of the window)
4.) Change the MTU and save the changes.

Good luck and have a nice day!
