Backlight went out

The backlight went out on my HTC Touch HD. I can't get the screen to respond to anything. The phone is still working but the screen with not turn back on. I tried turning the phone off and back on and that didn't help at all. If I let the phone sit for about 20min then the backlight will come back on but as soon as the the backlight goes back out again the I have to wait anther 20min before the the backlight works again. As I am getting and error:

I sent the phone into HTC for repairs. HTC stated that the phones motherboard needed to be changed to fix the problem and I would have to pay $250 to have that done. They claimed that the 3rd party software that I installed on the phone is what might have caused the problem. I didn't agree with that because I read an article online that was written in December last year about this same problem happening on other HTC phones. So I just told them to ship me the phone back. If someone can come up with a different solution to the problem I would that would be a great help. Thank you.

My backlight would go out and stay out for most of the time. When it would go out, I could still see the screen in a pitch black room. I gave my phone a hard reset by holding the send and end key and pushing the reset button on the bottom of the phone. Then I would let go of the reset button whiel stil holding the send and end keys, and ok the process. This will delete all data. I restarted the phone and the backlight was still out until I got my first phone call and it has worked since.

The HTC needs to be reflash to correct this issue...so take the phone to a mobile service center to have that done or try sourcing it online.

My HTC touch pro has some backlight problem or maybe hardware. When I press the power button the backlight turns on and turns off itself within a split second. and when i leave it to charge. the...

If the resett has not helped to confirm the error to be software related or not it will be good to have it checked on an HTC service centre for a code error. It will then be confirmed if this is a hardware issue.
Get estimate and decide, get warranty if it is within the period.

Screen broken on htc touch pro 2

Would you mind telling us, what it is that's broken. Did the lcd physically broke (i.e. in serveral pieces)? In that case, you have to replace it.
Did it just stay black? Could you check (with a bright lamp) whether you can see a hint of a little, then? If so, the backlight has gone bad. If not, or if you can see it lighting up on start, but it stays black, it might be the connector...
If the screen itself works, but the touch part of the touchscreen does not, look around here, there's a solution in a thread called "HTC touch pro... touch screen has stopped working".

G1 screen doesnt work, stays black, but still works.

Did this happen all of a sudden? Was the phone dropped? Chances are the backlight in the screen went out or the ribbon cable inside the phone that connects the screen some how came loose.

Screen lite dims in 5 sec.s

Hi,

It is because of the factory settings for the backlight. But you can change this yourself.

The simplest way to do this is:

1. Go to "All settings".
2. Choose "system".
3. Tap on "Power". The icon for this is a battery symbol.
4. Choose "Advanced".
5. Here you can define your choices, as to how long you want the backlight on (from 10 sec to 5 min).

Hope this helps.

The wired keyboard backlight turnes off too quickly

You would need to go into the Setting Menu and find the Backlight or Power setting to lengthen the display and keypad backlight times. Just know that your battery life will decrease the higher the settings especially since it is a VGA screen.
