Check your light switch which is the main one,after that check whether you do have any reset procedure through your ECU.

sorry, but it sounds like the timing belt just broke/ skipped on you.

Black smoke indicates running "rich" (using excessive fuel) sounds like an injector is sticking open. I would first run a strong fuel system cleaner through it. (Maybe even have a professional fuel system cleaning) Ques? When was last tune up? A dirty air filter would contribute, but not make alot of black smoke.

Here is a detailed solution on how to reset your 1992 camry;
1.Open the fuse panel cover in the driver's side footwell by pulling down on the fuse panel cover.
2.Locate the fuse for the electronic control unit, or ECU.
3.Pull the ECU fuse using the fuse pullers in the fuse panel.
4.Turn the ignition to the "On" position and wait five minutes. Then reinsert the fuse. The check engine light will blink several times before going out.
This will reset the computer on your 1992 Camry

put some stop smoke in it will prob be your rings

its the ecu ,my camry had the same problem. one of the injectors is staying open and flooding the cylinder.changerd the injectors same problem,changed the ecu problem solved.

If its BLACK smoke it's unburned fuel. If it has carb, the carb float is too high or sunk. If it has fuel injection it's a stuck (open) fuel injector.
