We had a storm last week and our dishwasher began working intermitently. Now I can set it for the wash cycle, but it just blinks and the lights eventually turn off but the cycle doesn't start. It was working after the storm, though I would have to press the button and keep trying, but now it seems that the cycle won't start at all. We had no problems until the storm. It is a Maytag Quiet Series 400 w/ digital controls and there's nothing in the manual re: this problem. We've had storms and lost power before but we've never had a problem until now.

FYI... I followed Miss Midget's steps... and there it was... a piece of plastic... actually one of the end caps from the rack. Poor design if you ask me. So for all you "grinders" out there, it's an easy fix... just need the appropriate star screwdriver. It went back together easier than it did taking it apart. Thanks.

The dishwasher lights are all blinking, it starts randomly, like one in every 50 times you press the buttons. I have unplugged it to reset several times. Nothing is working. I'm looking for a solution to blinking lights and it not starting. is there any other way to reset the controls????

The only solution I have is buy another one. I also purchased from Home Depot, and purchased the extended warranty which of course was up a couple months ago. I am told that parts would be over $400 (panel and handle) plus instal, this after spending almost $200 on metal rollers to replace the plastic ones. I was also told doing this myself would not be easy. I called Maytag and was told no luck. I emailed them as well but did not receive the courtesy of a response. I should mention that the motor was replaced under warranty within a year of purchase.

Hi,
I have an older dishwasher also and recently my wife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I am tried in vain to clean the things...
Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new...
However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad...
So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to make sure it is working...
Here is a tip that will help you with the online buying...
