Trying to connect onkyo HT-s3500 home theater pkg.(HT-R391 receiver)pairing w/ a Virgin Mobil Supreme (ZTE N9810) smartphone (A2DP enabled) via an onkyo UBT-1 Bluetooth adapter OR my 3 yr old HP PC, but nothing shows up when I push the "pair" button on the UBT-1. After what seems like hours of on line research it appears that the receiver might be below the threshold--UBT-1 is compatible w/ TX-NR 414 and above--which I guess any fool but me would realize. If I am right, is there ANY way I can play my music library thru the HT-R391 using the above phone or my pc? Thanks in advance for your help.

This might somewhat help. Today I went back .. I went HDMI out of the Cable box and DVD player into 2 of the TVs HDMI ins. The digital audio out from each, straight to the receiver and things are working ok. All speakers are working OK. Sound isnt as loud or crisp but unfortunately I found no other solution.

It sounds like you don't fully understand the Onkyo's HDMI port assignment procedures.
But why burden an HDMI cable with audio only? Don't you have a coaxial digital or spdif optical output on the PC you could use? That would make things simpler for setup. Just jam it into one of the appropriate audio inputs on the Onkyo.

The easiest way is to use a 1/8" stereo to dual RCA cord and connect the output of the sound card to an AUX input on the receiver. These cables are readily available and cheap. You shoul dhave 3 mini jacks on the back of the computer related to the sound card setup.
1) Audio input mic
2) Audio input line
3) Audio output line
Connect the receiver to the audio output line jack.

I just fixed mine with the same problem. Apparently, the HT-R667 and 606 receiver that comes with 6100 has a problem with the HDMI board. Onkyo wanted $500 dollars to fix it, costed me $16.
Here's how to fix it.
