Lots of static,

Do you have other phones on the same line?
Are they clear or do they have the static. If it is a telephone company old copper line and it happens on all phones it maybe a Telco problem.

Give Shure Tech Support a call at 800-516-2525. They can help you troubleshoot the problem. Have the mic nearby when you call them.

static on land line phone . Sometimes worse then ohers

the antenna connector located at the back might be damaged or not connected properly

check for antenna ground if corroded relocalize the ground.

i have the same problem with my g-track on a macbook im just going to take the thing back
it works for a feww min when i first start recording the is falls apart

BOOHOO - The phone needs to be diagnosed to determine the issue so take it to a mobile service center

RLECANDAR - from my experience the JAWBONE is an awful headset most customers that buy then replace them with another headset

Check the phone cable you are using for your POTS line. Attach a phone directly to the phone jack and see if it is clear or static without the device.

Try connecting line 2 where 1 is connected. If there is no static it is youre system ie phone itself. If there is static there is definately a problem with youre line. Static can usually be attributed to old lines that the moisture barrier has been compramised. If the line is under youre house or in the walls you may have to pay for it. But if it is the companys line it is their issue.

Time for a new phone. Most likely there are some bad solder connections and they could be anywhere. A 2 year old battery should not cause such severe problems so I'd spend the money on a new phone before a new battery.
