Most times the hard drive is full, delete any thing you don't want ,to free up space . increase ram to four GB if you can. Get rid of add-ons Run a anti virus programe.
Virtual Memory is used by the operating system as an extension to the
Random Access Memory (RAM). When the RAM does not have enough space to
accommodate the entire running program, the inactive parts of that
program are temporarily shifted to the Virtual Memory. These parts are
then swapped back into the RAM as and when needed. If the Virtual
Memory set on your system is not enough for the computer operations to
run smoothly, then you will get the "Virtual Memory Is Too Low" error
message. If operating system is xp then this problem can be easily overcome by increasing the Virtual Memory size. This is how you can do it by following instrutions:
Click on "Start" and then click on "Control Panel.
Double-click on the "System" icon in the Control Panel.
Click on the "Advanced" tab in the System Properties dialog box.
Click on the "Settings" button below Performance.
Click on the "Advanced" tab in the Performance Options dialog box.
Click on the "Change" button below Virtual memory.
Click on a drive_letter below "Drive [Volume Label]" in the Virtual Memory dialog box.
Click on the "Custom size" option.
Click in the "Initial size (MB)" text box and type a larger value (for example, 600).
Click in the "Maximum size (MB)" text box, and type a larger value (for example, 1500).
Click on the "Set" button. Similarly change the Virtual Memory on other drives.
Click the "Advanced" tab, and click the "Settings" button under Performance.
You will see Virtual Memory under there. Click the "Change" button, and switch to "Custom size".
Initial size: 500
Maximum size: 2096
Click the "Set" button, close everything out and restart the computer. You should notice a difference. If you have any questions, please feel free to comment! Please don't forget to vote! Happy Thanksgiving!
Virtual memory is "memory" on your hard drive, not actual memory. The best way to regain this is reboot and shut down some of the stuff that runs automatically when you DO boot up.
(This Virtual memory is space set aside on your hard drive that the processor moves data into and out of like it would put data on a memory module ... but in comparing the two, the virtual memory is SLOW.)
You can increase the size of your virtual memory to anything you want. Some say too large a allocation will slow you down and too little will cause crashing or slow opertion. You are 99.44% probably set to let Windows manage your virtual memory (default) at this time.
hello frnd, you can increse your virtual memory manually...
1.go to properties of my computer 2.go to advance tab... 3. there is option to change virtual memory. 4.click on it and change virtual memory accordingly..
I think the computer actually said you were running low on Virtual Memory ... memory is the physical ram installed in your machine ... virtual memory is an area of hard drive the computer uses to store data when in runs out of "real" memory .....hard drive space is nothing to do with memory.
Ok, that got that cleared up :-) .... now the quickest way to get over low virtual memory problems is to install more RAM. For XP you should really have a minimum of 512mb .... 1gb is probably optimum. For Vista you should really have a minimum of 2gb.
So if your laptop has less than 512mb(xp) or 2gb(vista), the first thing to do would be to upgrade the memory.
Virtual memory problems should only ever crop up when you are running multiple applications .... so just try and keep the amount of programs you have running to a minimum. Instead of just minimizing programs, try to close them down to save memory.
To determine if the laptop has a problem with the inverter of low virtual memory issues, plug an external monitor in to the laptop and you can change the virtual memory by following these instructions, right click on my computer, select properties, then select advanced, click on virtual memory and change the settings to system detemined, save settings and reboot the laptop without the external monitor to see if it is virtual memory or inverter. Please keep me informed
I don't wish to sound rude but if you don't know how to do this, you prolly should just let windows continue managing it. A few wrong keystrokes can have major repurcussions
