SOURCE: Dell inspiron 1545 laptop and the same webcam problem.

open your my computer, click on "c" the system will tell you the information is hidden, click on the link and open up the operating system and look in the drivers or there in C and se if you can find you web cam driver, when you find it you might have to force the opening of the driver to install, and once you do that plug your web cam in and see if the system see's it and installs the drivers for the cam, if you installed the driver origanally witht he web cam installed you will have to remove the web cam and unistall the driver and re install it and then plug the web cam back in, and that should help correct the problem.

SOURCE: My dell inspiron 1545 shuts down by itself, dell

I have the exact same problem. However I don't think the problem is the oper. system. The computer shuts down at random; many times it won't even boot. I originally thought maybe their was a loose ram stick, so i tried replacing it and had no luck. Then I tried removing the hdd and tried to get into the BIOS, but it still sometimes would shut off; meaning that the o/s can't be the problem.

It still works sometimes, but other times just shuts off or won't make it past the initial boot screen. I'm thinking it has to be a problem with something in the power supply. It's seems like the power just completely cuts off, i've never seen anything like it.

SOURCE: Dell Inspiron 1545 power adapter not charging machine

Just call Dell, don't take it back to Best Buy or anything (that's where I got my Inspiron 1565). They will put you through a couple troubleshooting items and decide whether it's the AC adapter went bad or if they have to replace your motherboard. It's all free since they have a 1yr hardware warranty.

How do i update my BIOS in Dell Inspiron 1545?

To update bios on your laptop, you laptop must be booting to windows, you should be able to use it.
Click on the below link, this will direct you to the dell support site.
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/inspiron-1545/drivers
Once you click on this link, choose the operating system you are using and scroll down to find the BIOS, click on the drop down and click on download. Save the file to your desktop and once it is downloaded, click twice on it and it will start the installation.
Ensure that the battery is charged more than 10% and the ac adapter is connected.
It is always recommended to updated bios only if you feel there is any issue with it.

Dell Inspiron 1545- Google Chrome & battery problems.

Your Google Chrome glitching is due to needing more memory. (if you have a lot of add-on, I'd remove some of them and see if that helps some)
On the battery issue - your battery is rather old, and needs replacing.

Dell inspiron 1545 overheat

When the CPU in the computer or laptopoverheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot upagain until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then theCPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes this problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged withdust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use acan of compressed air to do this.

My dell inspiron 1545 won't shut down went i click on the shut down icon it won't turn off .

Hold down the power button for 10 seconds. That will hard-shut the PC. Once that is done, fire it back up, and try again. Somethimes, windows will act goofy shutting down. Especially Vista when it is left on too long without shutting it down.

The computer shuts down on its own, stay on for about 5 mins. I made everything is plugged in.

Restart the computer in safe mode (Press F8 key when you restart computer and see the dell log untill you see the Advanced boot options, choose safe mode using your up and down arrow key and hit enter).

you system will load the basic windows drivers and will not connect to internet.
Please keep your system on and work with it for some time and test it. Even in this mode if your computer restarts then its definitely due to heat, else its due to application errors or driver errors

When I close my Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, it always shuts down, even when I set it to sleep mode. This causes Windows to shut down incorrectly among other problems.

Check your computer bios settings. There is a power managment section. Turn off power managment or set it to os controled. Check dells support site for any acpi drivers that you may need. These are needed for suspending controls.

Hope this helps.
