No sound when watching tv but have sound when playing the video game or watching a dvd

Is the mute activated or any buttons on the remote jammed? If the color system/format has changed when you connected it to games, it has to be changed back to what it was, making it suitable for TV reception.

The sound goes on and of when watching a movie

see the cause and fix it: God bless you
  1. Check if the TV and Amplifier (if connected) is turned on and set correctly.
  2. Check if the TV, DVD player and Amplifier are connected properly.
  3. Make sure the TV, DVD player and Amplifier volume are not set to Mute.
  4. There will be no sound output during Reverse Play / Pause / Step / Slow / Search.
  5. If the DTS soundtrack is enabled in the DVD Disc Menu, but you are using Stereo Analog audio, the sound will not work. Try switching the soundtrack to Dolby 5.1 or PCM mode in the Disc Menu.

Tv goes blank for few seconds while playing games

Sounds Like the graphics chip is starting to go. Try CPR in NYC. They usually have a 1-3 day turnaround time, and are pretty cost effective. You can easily ship them your unit. They are faster and cheaper than Sony.
website is www.cpr-nyc.com
Hope it helps!

Blank Screen

It may be a resolution setting issue...the game may be outputting in a resolution that your tv doesnt support. Try going to your video settings and knocking the resolution back to 720p for your HDMI output....in settings under video, select your ouptut, and uncheck the boxes next to the types above 720p. Also make sure you have latest software update for ps3.
