1. I think there are too many bad sectors in your 'HDD'. The reason you did not use for a long days or electricity problem (horrible breakable power supply).You will always use UPS. To repair the HDD, you should need a bootable DM .I don't know, which hdd you are using. So you will use ontrack bootable dm follow the step >

Mazor problem is most of the user, burn ISO file in data mode and the result, it could not run in boot time.
Burn the iso file, under image burning option from any nero .

You need to repair .
Zero fill can solve ,but data will delete so you need to back up to another pc.

Remove al.l the power jack from HDD and cd/dvd.and start again,
If the problem is same think RAM problem .
I know when remove the power socket from HDD it will solve,Only reasen hdd is defected due to bad cluster.
You will zero fil with ontrack bootable dm.

You will just Change the pata cable as new or fit to HDD tightly and restart the PC.If the problem is same, your HDD parturition has been corrupted unfortunately. so you need to format again from >my computer>manege>disk manager >and format.
If you don't want to loss data dowmnload ontrack boot cd and recover the partition.
