Hello Shannie,
I don't know what is wrong with the camera, but you should be able to charge it with a usb charger. I don't think you should be going after the batteries. Unless people are saying to replace the battery that charges inside. If its that battery I would just try writing a letter to the company complaining and asking for a replacement. If the battery is definitely good and camera refuses to work and you cannot find anyone to repair, only alternative is to replace. Actually, those things are a PIA to repair and very expensive to do so, and getting a new one is really the most cost effective way to handle the situation. If it were a three thousand dollar camera then things would be different.
suggestions. Different type of battery? Two different brands of battery? check the internal contacts to see that they do not have corrosion from the old ones/
The VTech Kidizoom cannot be charged by USB. It uses 4 batteries instead. When using rechargeable batteries, you need to (re)charge those with an external charger.
The Kidizoom uses four standard AA batteries. The manual recommends disposable alkaline batteries. If you wish to use rechargeable batteries, they must be charged in a separate battery charger; the camera does not include charging circuitry.
You should be able to find rechargeable batteries and battery chargers at just about any department, electronics, or office-supply store.
hi i got a kidizoom for my daughter. i am trying to upload music from itunes it seems to go on but when i switch on the camera i can't find it anywhere. what am i doing wrong?
Before you trash, what could turn out to be a fully functional cam, try this. Take a large ziplock bag and fill it halfway with "uncooked rice" not the minute rice stuff, the regular rice. Take the battery out. Place the cam and battery both in the bag and burry them in the rice. Leave it near a sunny window, sealed, for two days. Remove the cam and battery. Shake the cam well to make sure any renegade grains don't take up living in your cam.Replace the battery and try it out. Big bags of rice are cheap, what've you got to lose?
