The power adapter is dead. how do i order a new power supply?

Check the outlet, it could be that the outlet that supplies electricity to your printer is itself dead. try plugging something else into it.

if you are positive that the power adapter is dead you will have to get a new one either from a local PC store or order it online. The best way is to just browse ebay for a new adapter. Don't opt out for an old/used adapter unless the seller guarantees it's perfectly functional and offers at least a week of full money back guarantee. Power supplies can cause a whole lot of trouble such as random freezeups, shutdowns and slowdown of the computer, so although it's a more expensive option, it is best to get a new original laptop power supply. It shouldn't cost more than $50.

You can try taking your battery off the laptop and just have the power supply hooked up. If it will start up like that, your battery or the charging portion of your motherboard is probably bad and you should have a technician look at it. If it doesn't start, your power supply is more than likely bad and you can order a new one from eBay. Also check to see if there are any lights on the computer or power supply. If the laptop has lights on it is almost definitely a laptop issue, if nothing is on (including the light, if there is one, on the adapter) then it's probably a adapter problem and your battery is dead. You could try getting a new one on eBay or a universal adapter in a store. That way if the adapter turns out to be ok you can return the universal adapter.

Any power supply will do as long as it has the same specs as the dead one, which will be:

Input : x Volts AC
Output: x Volts AC or DC
Watts: x
Amps: in millamps
Polarity: (for power supply with DC output only) Center pin = plus or Center pin = minus

You should be able to find the matching transformer/adapter/power supply at Radio Shack.

P.S. The power supply you received may be the correct one -- check to see if the specs match the old one.

You can get one from lexmark, or off of ebay. Your power supply will say how many volts it outputs.

First check the wall socket make sure you are getting power, plug a lamp into it for instance. If there is no green light on the adapter then it is bad and you will need to order a new one from your computer manufactor.
