I am sorry to tell that the gearbox need to have some major repair. It is also not advisable to continue driving as the gearbox can breakdown completely leaving you stranded. At least one the cluster drive gears in the gearbox is damaged (gear tooth stripped off) that will result in that only some of the gears being able to be selected. The broken off tooth are still in the gearbox and due to the oil movement in the gearbox it can be "washed up " in between to engaged gears destroying those as well. This will happen up to the point where there are no gear selection at all.

i think you should have the gearbox changed out sooner rather than later
as its still working aok youll get a better exchange price
the company knowing its prob just a bearing set to replace in it
you could change the bearings yourself
but better to get a recon gearbox then take the parts too the garage
this will save you heeps ..
just pay for labour...

which one? moving the car or set the reverse gear?
1. reverse gear? if the gearbox are okay please try changing new clutch plate or set.
2. check gearbox lever connection to your knob rod might loose or something..

Hi do you have the gearbox removed? Assuming you have already removed the engine, and have removed all outer cases, inc clutch etc on rh side, undone all crankcase bolts, top first, inc starter motor, turn over undone all lower bolts, when all bolts are removed the upper and lower sepparate quit easily, if force is required a bolt is hideing somewhere, once the cases are removed the gearbox will be visible, EVEN THOUGH YOUR SECOND GEAR IS A PROBLEM! MOTORCYCLE GEARBOXES ARE CONSTANT MESH AND IT IS VERY LIKELY MORE THAN YOUR SECOND GEAR WILL BE DAMAGED! INC SELECTOR FORKS, may be worth buying a complete used gearbox, however to remove second gear on both gearbox mainshaft, and layshaft you will need a good set of circlip pliers, a clean working area to place every circlip, shim , gear, spacer in the order of removal, for direct replacment, hope this helps, paul

the cluster gears in the gear box have 4 sets on needle bearings as well as end shaft cage roller bearings that are probably worn out you will need to dissasemble the tranny to insepct them

Your pinions will be worn.
Better look for another gear set.

had exactly the same problem with mine, its in my mates garage as we speak. he had to take the engine out open the gear box and check the bearings. All the bearings were worn !!!! had to buy a wole bearing kit, £170 . plus labour, lot cheaper than getting it reconditioned by specialists!!! they wanted £1000 for doing exactly what my mate has done for me. when it pops out of gear and wont stay its possible that teeth on the gear are worn frm grindin or might be broken which cause it to pop out

so try to buy with set in engine +gearbox,

Dear you have to choose the engine that recoonect your old gear box cause some model have some specifications that never matched up & having problem with this same you have,

so try to buy some similar engine which can easily connect to your gear box

or if you bought already a 1 new engine than you can connect this with special connector which can help you for gearbox connection this type of connector will be availalble at auto R&D centers they have for experiments,
