I had a problem with my dell all-in-one photo 924 printer. I decided to delete the Dell AIO 924 driver to fix the problems with printing the docs by getting error message, ? communication not available? When i deleted it , I?ve tried to reinstall it, but it kept giving me an error message saying the " Hardware installer has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for inconvenience". It stopped the installation automatically. I have tried to install it a few times already but it won't let me do it. I also tried to start the windows in safe mode by pressing f8 to see if I can install it?there..but, it won?t let me do it either, I started getting a different error message .... saying " Spooler service not started/ Do you want the spooler service started now?/ i hit " ok" at first---no changes at all, then, i hit "cancel"----same thing, no installation :( any help ? i really need to fix my printer. Thanks.
UAC issue: If you are using Windows Vista or
Windows 7, a feature called User Access Control (UAC) would block the
printer communication. Disable it, and it should work. Use the link http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm for tips on how to disable UAC.
Print Spooler Service Error: Either the service
is stopped or not started correctly. Try restarting the printer spooler
services on your computer. For tips on how to restart the Print Spooler
service, use the link: http://www.ehow.com/how_2319117_restart-print-spooler-xp.html
Firewall Issue: Maybe your firewall is blocking
the connection to your printer. Try allowing access to all applications
related to Dell or printer or communication systems under Program
Permissions in your Firewall program.

hello You either have to change the ink cartridge or try to clean the ink cartridge nozzles as described in the user manual; http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/924/en/om_en/om_en.pdf On page 54 it states the following:
To clean the ink cartridge nozzles: 1 Load plain paper. For more information, see "Loading Paper" on page 19. 2 In Windows XP, click Start-Control Panel-Printers and Other Hardware-Printers and Faxes. In Windows 2000, click Start-Settings-Printers. 3 Right-click the Dell Photo AIO Printer 924 icon. 4 Click Printing Preferences. The Printing Preferences dialog box opens. 5 Click the Maintenance tab. 6 Click Clean Print Cartridges. 7 If the print quality has not improved, click Print Again. 8 Print your document again to verify the improved print quality. 9 If you are not satisfied with the print quality, wipe the ink cartridge nozzles, and then print your document again.
u just need to uninstall and reinstall the drivers and even before that try shutting the printer down and taking power brick out for a while.. will solve it..
First, here is a link to the vista 32 bit drivers. Install these drivers if you have not installed them before.
Second, if you are using Vista 64 bit, Dell does not make a driver for the 64 bit O/S. You can re-install your Vista to 32 bit or buy a printer that is compatible with 64 bit O/S
try starting windows in safe mode and by pressing f8 on startup and see if you can install it.. theres possibly a comnfligt with a program thats running
No Dell AIO 900 series printers can be used with Macs. To save money on
the components, these printers were built using low capability chips
that offload almost all processing to the host computer. The procedure
is completely proprietary to this branch of printers and no driver is
available for any other OS than Windows.
The printer is basically a Lexmark with a Dell logo on it, but drivers
for the comparable Lexmark printers have been confirmed not work. You
cannot use the "Generic" or "PostScript" drivers with this printer
either. Its hopeless.
