Headset Not Working At Times

When I press the button on my headset to initiate a call or answer an incoming call it appears as it is working, but I can't hear the dial tone or the caller on my headset. I use the APC-4 adapter and not the lift. I thought it was the headset unit I was using so I replaced it with one that someone else was no longer using and it is doing the same thing.

SOURCE: Headset has static

Perform a reset on the headset.  Hold down the mute button (the dial on the back of the headset needs to be pushed straight in), and at the same time hold down the call answer button until you see the green light on the headset blink a few times.  Release both the mute button and the call answer button.  See if it works now.  If it doesn't, try a re-subscription (should be available in the manual).

SOURCE: Plantronics CS55 requires lifting handset on phone

Please note that your hand receiver has to be off the hook when using the headset.

This is correct, additionally you can use a handset lifter accessory, such as the HL1 or HL10.

Subscribing Headset to Base:

The headset and the base unit are supplied subscribed to each other. However, if you wish to use a replacement headset with the base unit (or if you lose your connection to the base unit), then you must re-subscribe as follows:

1. Return the headset to the charging base.

2. Press and hold both the + and - buttons on the back of the charging base until the red light on the front of the base starts to flash.

3. Let go of both buttons. The red light should continue to flash.

4. Press the mute switch (black wheel on the top of the headset) straight down until a green light appears on the headset, then let go of the wheel, and the light should remain on the headset.

5. Resubscription is finished when the red light on the base is fully illuminated and the green light on the headset disappears.

6. Remove the headset from the charging base lift telephone handset/press headset button if not using a handset lifter. The headset and base should now be connected.

7. If this procedure does not resolve your issue to try a system reset.

You may need to re-subscribe the headset.

NOTE: Before re-subscribing the system make sure the IntelliStand switch (on the right side of the charging base) is in the "_" position and NOT the "=" position.

To Re-Subscribe:

The headset and the base unit are supplied subscribed to each other. However, if you wish to use a replacement headset with the base unit (or if you lose your connection to the base unit), then you must re-subscribe as follows:

SOURCE: On my new Plantronics S12

Unfortunately, the phone does matter. The S12 is designed to work with office style phones where the handset is just the mouthpiece, all other features located on the base. My suggestion is to get a phone of that style (you can find inexpensive ones at Wally world) and connect the headset following the instructions on this link for the Plantronics S12.

Good luck from Headsets Direct!

How do I auto answer using Plantronics Headset (Savi W740) on a Mitel 4250 Phone?

Plantronics makes an adjunct device that attaches to the telephone base (Velcro) and can lift the handset when the button on your headset is pressed. Unfortunately that's the only way to directly integrate the Plantronics (or any other brand) headsets with the Mitel 4XXX series phone. This handset lifter is actually bundled with some of the SAVI headsets, depending on the actual model you get. Separately it's about an additional $50 option. I recall the Plantronics part number is HL-10. Hope this helps.

How do I answer a call from my headset?

Is the headset paired with the phone you are using? If not, you can pair the headset by pushing and holding for a few seconds a small button on the back of the 5330 phone until it starts flashing. The button should be near the top of the cordless module. When the phone starts flashing, push and hold the answer button on the headset until it starts to flash as well. There should be a prompt on the phone itself to select which device you want to pair. Let me know if this helps :)
