Good bulb and battery but flashlight still doesn't work

Has this just happened after working ok? Is this a new maglight? Have you tried brand new batteries? Have you checked metal contacts to the batteries?

To test a flashlight bulb you use an Ohm meter which will detect a broken filament or an open circuit within the bulb. If the bulb is bad it will read "OL" if it's good it will read "00.0"

it's telling you the battery is fully charged so suspect that either the battery is dead or the bulb is burnt out. Get a test meter and test for voltage at the battery. If yes, then the bulb is burnt. If no voltage then obviously the battery is bad

The odds that both bulbs went out at the same time is pretty low, actually. It's more likely that there's corrosion in the on-off switch or that an internal wire may have come loose. It's also possible--and I've made this mistake myself--that one of the 6-volt batteries has been put in backwards so that the polarity is not properly aligned for both batteries.

With all that said, here are a few simple tests you can do.

1. Check the batteries. If you have a battery tester, are both batteries good? If so, check they are properly installed and making good contact with their terminals.

2. Pull the bulbs out and use a voltmeter to check that you have voltage going to each bulb tube. This basically means switching the light on and touching each of the terminals where the bulb(s) would clip in. You should see a strong voltage reading on one or both tubes-I believe that this light is designed to keep working, even if one of the bulbs is burned out.

3. If you don't get a reading from the bulb terminals, the on-off switch or wiring leading to is is the prime suspect. You may have to disassemble the light housing to get into that, which may not be particularly easy. At this point, you might want to call Rayovac customer service and see what they might do for you under their alleged lifetime warranty for flashlights. You may be able to send it in (holding onto the bulbs for yourself) and get a free replacement.

The internal control unit will not let the bulb operate if the battery is not up to voltage. To recharge the battery, you will need a 12VDC 300mA adapter. It will take 12 to 15 Hours to charge. If that doesn't work, replace the battery

Sounds like you need to replace your bulb, it may be burned out.
Also check the switch and also make sure the spring in the back of the flashlight is touching the battery tightly to make good contact.

If it uses AA batteries there is likely a spare bulb in a keeper below the spring. HTH

If you have an ohm meter, you can check the bulb to see if the bulb has burned out. It is possible that the bulb has failed.

Another thing to check is inside the tube of the flashlight to make sure that you are getting a good, clean contact at the top end of the tube and at the bottom, normally where the spring makes contact with the bottom of the battery. Sometimes the contact become corroded or coated with a slight "glaze" which prevents power flow through the flashlight. Gie them a good going over and wipe off any residue that might be there.

The last thing to check is the switch itself, although not know to fail very often, they sometimes do due to being subjected to rough handling or a good jolt from being dropped, etc. Just follow the path of checking everything in the chain and you should be able to get the light working again.
