Check that machine is set up with static ip address and correct port mail smtp is port 25. check your mail server

How to send scanned documents abroad

Place your document in the scanner and choose a low resolution. Although scanners allow you to choose a high resolution, that feature is better suited for transferring photographs into your computer for editing. For documents, a resolution of 100 dpi (dots per inch) is a good choice.
Open your computer's Control Panel and select the "Scanners and Cameras" icon to open the scanner wizard. Follow the instructions to choose a location to save your scanned document. Create a new folder on your desktop, making it easy to locate the file later. Scan as many documents as needed to this folder.
Use your email account and create a new message, inserting your intended recipient's email address in the "Send to" field. You must type in the email address exactly.
Look at the top of your email window to find the "Insert" menu. When you click on it, a drop-down menu will appear, select the "Attach a File" option and choose the location of your document.
Highlight the desired document in the folder and double-click on it to attach it to your email message. Check to be sure the document attaches by looking for the file name in the "Attach" box above your text.
Repeat Steps 1 to 5 if you need to attach more documents. Send your email as usual.

How do i scan a doocument, and send as e-mail

You need to have scanning software installed on your computer. It usually comes with the scanner or combined scanner/printer when you buy it.
If you do not have it on your computer, look for the cdrom or dvd that came with the scanner.

In most scanning software you have an option to safe the scanned pages as a pdf document.
pdf documents can easily be sent by email.

How do i scan a document so i can email it?

You need equipment (scanner, copier/scanner/printer, etc... to scan your document. The software will ask you where you want to store/save to a location it on your computer. Then go to your e-mail client and click on new mail. After you fill out "to: i.e. recepient e-mail address", "regarding" etc. Find the tab for "attachment", Click,on attachement tab and locate the scanned document on your PC you wish to attach with the new mail to be send to the recepient.(The attachement will take quite a while depending on the document size). Then click send!!!

I can't scan to e-mail.

Connect the scanner to the PC install the scanner software, place the Document on to the scanner and close then on your PC desktop or open My Computer right click on the scanner icon and select scan picture.
Save the picture or the document, open your e-mail after typing or just how you usually send e-mail, 0n the send option bar/tap select add attachment wait to open then locate the scan doc by browsing the pop-up menu select your scan doc and click OK/ADD the doc will be added to your e-mail message now you can send it.

Hello I am having problems saving my documents I am receiving an error message "Release the lock switch,detach usb cable and reconnect.Close the scanner driver .What lock switch is this ?please advice...

-is this a new scanner? is this the first time you are trying to scan?
if you answer yes to any of this questions, please check underneath the scanner, find the latch to release the scanning head.

To use this feature in Windows, a destination must be programmed in the scan setup before scanning to a destination. See Set up the product Scan To button.

Load the originals that are to be scanned face-up in the automatic document feeder (ADF) input tray, with the top of the document forward, and adjust the media guides.

Lift the flatbed scanner lid and load the original that is to be scanned face-down on the flatbed scanner with the top, left corner of the document located in the lower-right corner of the glass. Gently close the lid.

On the product control panel, press Scan To.
Use the arrow buttons to select a file destination.
Press Start Scan or OK to scan the document to a file.

Scanning to e-mail is supported by any e-mail program that supports the Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) protocol. Many versions of popular e-mail programs seem to be MAPI-compliant. See the support information for your e-mail program to determine whether or not it is MAPI-compliant.

How does the 1210 scanner work with Windows 7? I have downloaded the driver for the printer and it works ok, but I cannot use the software for the printer. The copier and the scanner work, but i cannot...

You will have to do a two step process to send a scanned document or image by email; the scan to e-mail button won't work. Scan using either Windows Fax and Scan or Paint. Save your file. Then start (Compose/Write) an e-mail to the person you need to send the document. Click Attach and browse to the location where the scan was saved. The default folder is C:/Users/<user_name>/My Documents/Scanned Documents . Click OK after selecting that image. Finish writing your e-mail and send it.

If you'd like to automatically open the e-mail program, browse to the folder where you saved the fax from Computer (Start button) and right click on the image. Choose Send to Mail Recipient. The new mail compose window should open.

First turn on the computer, after it loads up plug the scanner into the computer, turn it on, and it should prompt you to install a driver for the scanner. Follow the directions on screen and it will install it for you. After that, it might require a reboot of the system, if so do so. If not make sure the scanner is powered on and then put the document in the scanner and run the program that was installed for the scanner and it should scan for you, or if the scanner has a button that says scan and it should put it in a file on your computer, possibly in the MY DOCUMENTS folder. Open your email and compose new mail and then when your ready to put the file in, click the ATTACHMENTS button and find the file and click attach, and then send. There you just scanned and sent your first file VIA email. Congratulations. Any further questions please let me know.
