Cant set dvr to record

Well, I'm trying to decipher this. Why does the recording in DVR revert to the default (date/time???) when the light goes off and comes back on.

I'm guessing you are trying to say time, not date, maybe day?

The DVR is trying to remember when a show comes on and record it, based on your settings. Usually shows come on at a specific time. DVRs usually update their scheduled recordings based on updated programming guide information. If you are constantly unplugging or causing your receiver to otherwise restart, most receivers will download an updated guide upon getting power back or restarting (DVRs themselves not having any idea how long they've been without power, download a new guide just in case after you unplugged them you moved to Arizona). During this time, the recording you set is showing the original time you set it up, because until the guide is downloaded, it has no idea that its wrong.


My best advice, even if I'm wrong about our language barrier here, stop unplugging your receiver. Leave it plugged in and powered at all times.

How do I record a show using my DVR and i-Guide?

There are multiple ways to do this:

1. Press the RECORD button on your remote control while watching a program to begin recording. An overlay will appear on your screen to let you know you have started recording.
2. From the TV listings grid, highlight the show you want to record and press the Record button.
3. From any program information screen, highlight the Record icon and press the OK/Select button on your remote to schedule a recording. Follow the on-screen prompts for additional recording options.

Manually schedule a recording for a specific time or channel:

1. Press the MENU button on your remote control then select the DVR icon.
2. Or, if available, press the My DVR button on your remote control.
3. Select the start time, end time and day that you want to record.
4. Press Confirm.
5. In the channel list that appears, select the channel to record from.
6. Select Record to confirm your settings or select Recording Options for additional options.

How to video DVR

check programmed recordings you will have a clash possibly in time and date on another channel. If the dvd records two channels at once normally check if it has two channels already set up at the same time to record i the scheduled recordings.
you may have two different channel positions that are the same tv station and have set up two different channels to record the same show. and then you may be trying to record another different channel at the same time. check and delete extra channel schedule.

Another way to have this is as an example say programmed record at channel nine f0r show 1 at 7:30 to 8.35 day xyz and then you set up show 2 to record at channel nine say from 8:30 to 9.35.day xyz this will use two time frames during the overlap from 8:30 to 8:35 on day xyz and if you decide to record a third show you can't between the overlap time frame

You have lots of options: Go to the station or movie carriers website and stream the video online, or use a DVR device to record it. Or as a last option, put your digital camera on a tripod in front of TV and record it and watch it later.

The issue may be is that you have a DVD in your dvr , that still shoes that date and time. Just a possibility, not sure,. try to see if you can take DVD out of dvr, and use a new one. I happened to me but, the case was a vcr,and I had a recorded video tape which while playing , was showing a blue screen, with "no data received" which actually it was when no data vcr was receiving from cable at the time it was recording . If the problem still is not solved then there is issue with some circuits, and processors. Also you may want to check if Bunker Hill has any customer support, to check with them.

Most DVR's don't have back up battery for holding setup data like your Computer. That means that you can never unplug or switch off the power supply completely. The clock runs off the mains supply so any interruption will make it revert back to factory settings.In other words you have to put it in standby mode when not in use to retain recording schedule / clock time etc.

One of the options for the DVR recordings is starting and ending before the program starts and ends. You can change this setting to your preference. To change , press the DVR button 2 times on your DISH remote. This will bring up the "My Recordings" screen on your TV. Go to "Schedule" button on the right side of the screen. Press select. You should be on the "Daily Schedule" screen. Go to "Timers" button on the right of the screen. Press select. You are now on the "Timers List" screen. Select one of the programs scheduled to be recorded and press "Select". You are now on the "Timer Schedule" screen. Go to "Options" button and press select. You are now on the "Timer Options" screen. This is the screen you can set your preference for the "start early" and "stop late" settings. Be sure to select the "Set as System Default" if you want to apply this setting to all your recordings. Make sure there is no time overlap on any of the programs you have on the recorder.

That is the most likely problem

If you have no manual timers with extended timers then replace the unit. That will eliminate the issue. Thanks for using Fix Ya.
