I suggest buying a 5 pin to 4 pin adapter. Ebay has them for $6. I would go chopping wires on the mic. Cobra 29 ltd is a nice radio. Have one myself.

You got your radio peaked? Most likely, however, the pot for the antenna warning indicator is VR6. I always check that after peaking a radio.

SOURCE: 29 ltd classic wont transmit

Hi,
Great radio when it works.
If you have your settings on CB - not PA - -be sure that your Cobra has that setting selected.
If CB -is selected and still nothing - be sure you have a working mic. These wires are fragile and can break internally. One easy way to check is to borrow a cobra mic or even drop by a CB repair shop and ask them to do a mic check with the mic - it is free.

If you have a bad mic replace it and all should be well.
If your mic is good and it still doesn't transmit you will need to replace the finals in the unit. It is common that these burn out of you got too close to someone with too powerful a radio. The CB shop will need to look at it further and repairs should not be over about 40.00.

Good luck with your Cobra.

How to wire a Delta M3 to a Cobra 29 LTD Classic

Wiring a Delta M3 microphone to a Cobra 29 LTD Classic CB radio requires connecting the wires from the microphone to the corresponding pins on the radio's microphone jack. Here are the steps:
  1. Locate the microphone jack on the front of the Cobra 29 LTD Classic CB radio.
  2. Examine the Delta M3 microphone's wiring. It should have four wires: a black wire, a red wire, a white wire, and a shield wire.
  3. Determine the pin configuration of the microphone jack on the Cobra 29 LTD Classic CB radio. The pin configuration is usually printed next to the microphone jack or in the owner's manual.
  4. Connect the Delta M3's black wire to the pin on the microphone jack that corresponds to the radio's ground connection.
  5. Connect the Delta M3's red wire to the pin on the microphone jack that corresponds to the radio's positive voltage connection.
  6. Connect the Delta M3's white wire to the pin on the microphone jack that corresponds to the radio's audio input connection.
  7. Connect the Delta M3's shield wire to the pin on the microphone jack that corresponds to the radio's shield connection.
  8. Test the microphone by speaking into it while monitoring the audio output on the Cobra 29 LTD Classic CB radio.
Note: If you are unsure about the wiring or pin configuration, consult the owner's manual for your CB radio or seek assistance from a qualified technician. Improper wiring can damage your radio or microphone, and may result in poor audio quality or no audio at all.

How to wire a Sadelta M3 to a Cobra 29 LTD Classic

I believe to wire a Sadelta M3 microphone to a Cobra 29 LTD Classic CB radio:

The Sadelta M3 microphone has four wires: white, shield (bare wire), red, and black. The Cobra 29 LTD Classic CB radio's microphone jack also has four pins: Pin 1 (Audio), Pin 2 (Ground), Pin 3 (Transmit), and Pin 4 (Receive).

To wire the Sadelta M3 to the Cobra 29 LTD Classic, you need to connect each wire from the microphone to its corresponding pin on the microphone jack. The white wire carries the audio signal from the microphone's element to the radio, the shield wire provides a ground connection, the red wire activates the radio's transmit function when the microphone is keyed, and the black wire is used for receive audio.
Here are the specific steps to follow:
  1. Cut off the existing microphone plug on the Sadelta M3 microphone cord.
  2. Strip about 1/4 inch of insulation from each of the four wires in the Sadelta M3 microphone cord.
  3. Connect the wires to the pins on the microphone jack as follows:
  • White wire to Pin 1 (Audio)
  • Shield (bare wire) to Pin 2 (Ground)
  • Red wire to Pin 3 (Transmit)
  • Black wire to Pin 4 (Receive)
  1. Solder each wire to its corresponding pin on the microphone jack. You may want to use a multimeter to verify that each connection is solid and that there are no shorts or open circuits.
  2. Once you have soldered all the wires, test the microphone by speaking into it and checking that the radio's TX meter moves as you speak. Also, check that you can hear audio through the radio's speaker when receiving signals.
  3. If the microphone is working correctly, use heat shrink tubing or electrical tape to cover the soldered connections and provide strain relief for the wires.
Note that some microphones, including the Sadelta M3, may have additional features such as a built-in amplifier or power supply that require additional wiring.

I have a Cobra 29 WX NW ST Sound Tracker and the on/off control does not control volume or turn the radio off,it stays on all the time.I looked for that control online but could not find any that looked...

Hello johnson,
Welcome to FixYa. My name is John, and I will be assisting you with your issue today.
It does not have to be the same part number as the original one! I just fixed one
today with the same problem. If you have any old radio just laying around with an on/off
volume control in it, that will work just fine! Just make sure its not bigger knob wise.
You will probably have to remove the face plate to get to it. I some how worked around mine.
Just mark the wiring when you remove them, so you will know how to replace them. Easy job!
Hope this was helpful to you. Your Comments and Testimony's are always welcome here.
Thanks for choosing FixYa today and in the future.

Rewiring

Usually if you need to rewire your on/off/knob, it is because of a faulty knob switch inside..or broken wires to the knob have come unsoldered.etc. If you have replaced the old knob with a new one,and is an exact same type with same wiring points. you can easily resolder to the orginal areas and it will work. Broken wires from the switch could be resecured to the post they came off of if you have access to the schematics diagram to your on/off switch. If you dont, you can download a PDF file from your manufactorers site..searching for your particular make and model c.b. then download the manual...at a cost or for free.. al
