Amana top load clothes washer dial malfunction

Fills with water, but nothing else from about 12-1 o'clock on dial to about 5 o'clock. Also the timer seems to turn the dial past "stop" (about 3:30 on dial) into next cycle. Delicate cycle will agitage & spin/drain fine.

Why would my Amana washer not do anything but fill up with water. Nothing will function at all on all the cycles but the fill. It doesn't even click on the timer when you try to set to any setting exc

Hi Kirby
First... Caution
Because your dealing with water & electricity it can be lethal to fiddle around inside. That said...
Washing machines are controlled by a master timer unit, usually mechanical, but rotated by an AC Clock motor. If the timer is not getting voltages to the various Switches around the "timer unit" or "clock motor" then the individual selected functions won't work.
Manually Rotating to a particular function then Activating the On/Off Push/Pull switch should start things happening even if timer motor is dead. So
If your OK with AC electrical goods then open it up.
Connection wires may have fallen off or something simple. A multimeter is your best friend here. Look for the big rotary clock behind the main control dial. Listen for the clock motor running. The main Push in & out Button is the On / Off switch. Check that its got AC on the input wire & switches across to the other wire when the knob is pushed in / out. This may be the problem...

I have a kenmore 70 series heavy duty plus. my model number is 82372110. my washer will fill with water but when its time for it to start to agitate it drains the water then fills it and drains it the

Sounds like the main dial is gone on the top control panel. How a washer works, is the water level switch ( the dial that allows you to select the amount of water you want to wash your clothes in) sends a signal to the main dial, when the water level is full to turn on the agitate and the water to shut off. But it is emptying the water instead, so the main dial is skippiing the agitate cycle. If you take the back panel off the top control panel, you will see a mechanism behind the main dial. That is probably what needs to be changed. It costs anywhere from $120 to $180 for the part. You may want to invest in a new one instead but replacing this part should fix your problem as well. It is about a 2-3 out of 5 for someone without experience to fix. Not hard. Have you noticed any whining or abnormal mild grinding coming from the dial itself? This may be a clear indicator that the dial is on its way out.

Top loading washer that won't aggitate, or rinse.

without knowing more details, and considering it's age , my guess is that you have a disconnection (or a loose wire) to the solenoids under the tub. these solenoids activate the clutch system that pulls it into agitate and spin modes. it might be the solenoids, but rarely do both go out at the same time. it might be the timer contacts or connections behind the control panel. or, it might be the timer its self.
try unplugging the unit and check all the connections.
hope this helps jay

Wahing machine won't do anything

when in some of your wash cycles, try wiggling the timer knob back and forth. sometimes if the timer is going bad the motor will come to life for a split second. if this is the case you need a new timer. if it is completely dead no matter what, you most likely have a bad motor but there is still a chance that there is a bad timer. the odds just increase that it is a bad motor.

hi, this is just a timer issue. there are sectors on the timer dial that are malfunctioning at this moment. simply replacing the timer will fix this issue.

My Amana LWA60AW washing machine won't agitate.

Some timer dials will not turn all the time they will sit for awhile then advance . If it don't move for a long time sounds like you have a bad timer motor.
Some motors can be replaced and some you have to replace the complete timer.

If your washer fills but the timer cycle doesn't advance-replace the timer. If your washer fills the time cycle advance, and still not agitating your agitator is at fault.
