Why does the needle keeps getting stuck in the bobbin

It sounds like something is stuck inside after the stabilizer got jammed. Carefully open your machine; start with removing the needle, the presser foot, the bobbin, needle plate (if possible) and start looking around. I use a toothpick to gently (gently) remove dust balls, thread, etc from the machine. My thread was breaking and I found a little thread stuck inside. Once I removed the thread, the machine worked fine again.

Take your machine for service. Probably the timing is off.

1. Put one drop of oil on race. The bobbin case has two screws to adjust to keep it from moving either clockwise or counter clockwise. You will need to adjust these. It is tricky but once in the right position it will only move slightly. Give just enough free movement to allow thread to fit through.
2. Adjust the bobbin tension. The screw on the bobbin will need to be adjusted so it has a tension which equals four on the upper tension. This is a little tricky but if you're off a little you can adjust the upper tension to correct this. NOTE: You are trying to adjust the upper tension and the bobbin tension to be equal. This is similar to a tug of war.
3. Try to turn the hand wheel. Watch to see if the needle thread will ride across the top of the bobbin. It should do this without the thread getting stuck. If it gets stuck you will need to adjust the bobbin case screws to allow a little more movement allowance.
4. Replace the needle.
5. If you still notice the needle striking something under the throat plate you will need to have your machine timed.

Cut the thread above the needle eye and rock the handwheel back and forth sharply to cut the thread with the sewing hook. If that doesn't work pretty promptly, undo the needle clamp and turn the handwheel, which should raise the needle bar. Then get into the bobbin case area and try to remove the bobbin case, cutting any threads you can. Keep rocking the handwheel and trying to pull out the needle (pliers help!), and eventually everything will loosen up.

Next, clean and lubricate the area under the needle plate and the shuttle, and reassemble. Put in a brand new needle, right way around and fully up in the machine. Load the bobbin case with a well-wound bobbin, and rethread the top of the machine and you should be good to go.

Now, when needle is "stuck", this requires patience and care in "jiggling" the hand wheel to and fro until needle point begins to clear the jammed area. Carefully snip one thread that moves up under needle and jiggle hand wheel by carefully turning hand wheel toward you to see if you can move the take-up lever all the way up to the UP position. Look at bobbin case area and remove bobbin. Cut bobbin thread and remove bobbin case. Sweep gently with brush underneath case and carefully, gently sweep over the feed dogs, poking very ends of brush bristles into "teeth" area to remove lint, fuzz ball/s, and any loose thread/s. Raise presser foot, remove (possibly bent) needle. Insert new needle of appropriate size for fabric weight. Make sure needle pushed all the way up into needle bar groove, at side to back. Keep presser foot RAISED while rethreading. This allows thread to locate tension discs, and HOLD THREAD TAUT. Replace bobbin, making sure thread is EVENLY distributed on it. Imablanced bobbins cause jams, and bobbins with burrs and scratches can real havoc as well as the hook part of the shuttle where the bobbin fits. Smooth such areas with emery cloth carefully, ever so gently. Hope my suggestions are a solution for you. Jimmy

Could be a few things. Absolutely minutely check that the top thread is threaded properly. Otherwise, it could be: Old thread. incorrect thread for the material. wrong size or blunt needle. or incorrect tension on needle I had this problem and I was missing a part of threading even though I have been sewing for years. :)

check these things
1.threaded correctly
2.needle bent -lay needle on a flat surface & roll the needle over--if needle does not roll true--replace
3.check bobbin area for lint or loose threads

If you are seeing the needle thread in loops and birdnests then its the needle thread you need to check. The main reason is it is not threaded through the takeup spring(the one that moves) This action is critical as it is how the thread is pulled up tight. Also make sure the needle thread is between the discs and that it has sufficient tension that you do not see it on the bottom of the material. Try this: Use two different color threads for needle and bobbin. If you see the needle color on the bottom then the needle thread is not tight enough (or in 5% of the cases the bobbin is too tight or hung up). Let me know how it does. Jay

Remove the needle, and place a screwdriver or something like it under the needle bar to keep the wheel from turning.
Wrap the knob in some type of fabric to keep it from being marred.
Using channel locks or water pump pliers, grasp the knob and turn it to the left. It should come loose. Once it is loosened, try it 2 or 3 times to make sure it works as it should.
Wind the bobbin, insert a new needle and have fun again.
