Nady tmp-3 tube channel with preamp / eq / compressor

First, plug it in. Next connect the speakers. Center all eq controls both master and channel. Turn off any reverb or effects. Turn the master volume 1/2 way up. Plug a sound source into channel 1 wiyj the channel volume all the way off. Turn on the amp. Slowly raise the channel volume until you heat output. If you get nothing, it's broken.

1. Turn the main and monitor volumes all the way down (off). Plug a cd player into channel 9/10 and play a track of music of your liking. With the main/monitor volumes still off, adjust the gain on 9/10 until the clip light turns on, then back it down until the clip light just turns off. Put the channel volume at 12 o' clock.
2. With the music still playing, turn up the mains to the desired listening level first, and then adjust the graphic eq until the music sounds good in the room. Remember or mark the position of the volume control. Do not use the channel eq on 9/10 for music that has been mastered properly, leave the eq flat. Once this step is completed then you have now set the main eq.
3. Repeat the same for monitors. Turn off the main volume and then bring up the monitor main volume to the desired level first, then set eq. Now your monitor eq is set properly. Remember or mark the position of the monitor volume.
4. Set up microphone - plug a mic into channel 1 with volume all the way down. Speak or sing into the microphone and adjust the GAIN until you see the clip light, then back down a litttle on the gain. Put the monitor and main volumes back up to the mark from step 2. Now adjust the volume and monitor send on the mic channel to the desired loudness first before adjusting the mic channel eq. Use subtractive eq method to minimize distortion and feedback. ...i.e. if the mic is bassy then turn down the lows, do not ADD highs. If the mic needs bass, turn down the highs.

Put at end of the chain. In this order: (1) EQ (2) Compressor (3) Crossover, (4) Feedback Destroyer.

Get an "insert snake" which splits each of two TRS plugs into TWO TS plugs.
Plug the TRS ends into the MAIN INSERT jacks and each of the "TIP" plugs at the other end into inpout jacks of the destroyer. Plug the "RING" plugs into the output jacks of the destroyer. You will need a snake with at least two sets of splits. I use a Behringer PROCOM compressor. For those the TRS plugs go into the channel insert jacks and the tips and ring plugs go to the in and out of each channel of the compressor respectively.

I assume that the hum exists without any cables plugged into the input. If that is not the case, then make sure all input cables and source are using BALANCED lines. If the hum is present with no input cables, since this is a tube type preamp, the input tube for the bad channel is first suspect. It is likely a 12AX7 or 12AT7 type tube. Since there are two channels, the first thing is to SWAP the two channels and see if the hum moves with the tube... if it does replace the tube. I have seen another problem with preamps in general where bypass capacitors from either side of the XLR connectors to ground get zapped with static and one side shorts. This reduces the gain by 6 DB and leads to hum.

No you can't quite do this since the EQ's are right before the power amps in the signal flow. The monitor output would drive two 8 ohm speakers daisy chained at roughly 300 watts RMS... I can't imagine needing more than that for a venue that is within the capabilities of this unit.
You can drive both power amps by the monitor output by setting the mon/main function on the switch and using a short TRS cable jumper between MONITOR PREAMP OUT and the RIGHT POWER AMP INPUT jack. Drive your mains from the LEFT PREAMP OUT. The EQ's will ONLY affect the monitors. Use an external EQ if you need to EQ the mains with this connnection. Use TRS balanced cables to the main amp and CONNECT all interconnected equipment to the SAME power source or receptacle, even if it means running an extension to the mixer.

For the Drive channel you need to use the Drive control AND the MASTER volume control. When the Drive channel is active, the Channel Indicator lamp should be RED indicating the Drive Channel is active. The Drive control knob is used to adjust the preamp volume and distortion level of the Drive Channel. This gives you a clue as to what to check if adjusting the controls doesn't work -- the preamp tubes. Having said that, ONLY try to check these tubes with the amp OFF! Never stick your hand up into the chassis of a live amp. It could be lethal. Your preamp tubes are the ones farthest from where the power cord enters the chassis. They have a rubber like stabilizer on them. They have a tendency to wiggle loose, which is part of the reason for the stabilizer. Again, if you're not familiar with the insides...stay out and get an amp tech to help you.

The Normal Channel only uses the Volume Control to adjust volume.

You need to make special cables. The inserts send and receive via the TRS connectors. You will connect to the preamp output of the insert plug which is the "RING" of the jack sending that signal first to your comp and from there to your EQ and then back into the insert plug on the "TIP" of the TRS plug.

It sounds like a filter capacitor(s) has failed. The electrolytic caps dry out and cease to perform allowing unfiltered power to reach the preamp sections and get amplified.

Being this is tube with high voltages, an experienced person should work on it due to shock danger.

I assume you checked the tubes for shorts as well as emission since a heater to cathode short could cause this as well.
