Roller brush doesn't move

I just bought a Kirby Heritage II off of Ebay, and the roller brush isn't moving when turned on. The suction works. I have turned it on with out the roller bruch attachment on and the knob that holds the belt so it can turn doesn't turn when I do this.

Here is a online guide....it's for the G series Kirbys. They're similar enough that it should help. Pay special attention to the belt lifting process...it's exactly the same as for the Heritage II, and it's also where I think your problem lies. I have a Heritage II manual available too! Hope I have helped...

Kirby works with the brush roller head; but not the hose attachment (won't start with hose attachment)

The part of the hose that attaches to the vacuum should push on the switch on the front of the vacuum so it won't come on without the nozzle or hose attached. Inspect the hose to see if that part may be broken or not making good contact to activate the switch,

How do I replace the roller brush on a kirby Heritage II?

The brushroll is held onto that baseplate by the metal brackets on either end of it. You have to slightly bend them outward to remove the brushroll.

The brush on my kirby won't turn

It may have something caught in the roller mechanism if not the belt that drives the roller may have broken or slipped off. If the problem is neither of these then the motor that drives the belt to drive the roller may have failed, Please take to an authorized service centre and have it repaired or replaced if it does not cost more than a new vacuum if it is going to cost more than a new vacuum then discard that machine and purchase a new one. I hope this helps.

Carbon Brushes wearing out quickly on Kirby Heritage II

4 possible reasons.
1 – one or both bearings are worn so armature (rotating part) wobbles as it is spinning and cause motor brushes to wear fast. Solution – change bearings too.
2 – Whoever replaced brushes – did not use some brush seating sticks to make cmutator smother and contour brushes to the shape of the comutator (not likely). Solution – appropriately install new set of brushes.
3 – Comutator is so warped that seating sticks do not help anymore – solution – new armature or turn the old armature.
4 – The fact that ONLY ONE brush was worn may mean that there is something wrong with the brush or housing. Maybe it could not move freely within the housing? I think this may be most likely cause it it may be a combination of all 4.Is it worth to fix? Hmm depends how much will it be. If this is 100+ - I’d say get newer Kirby for 300 ad enjoy the tech drive (Heritage does not have tech drive so it is much harder to vacuum with than the newer models)

How do you use and what attachments for upholstery cleaning with the Heritage II

Generic problem for all Vacuums
How do you use and
How do you use and what attachments for upholstery cleaning with the Heritage II

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Kirby has a spin brush that is round on the newer Kirby’s and it works on the suction from the vacuum and it fits on the end of the vacuum hose but it does not fit into corners very well or your can take some Kirby shampoo in the spray water bottle and use a kitchen scrub brush for the corners. Other wise you can use the actually Kirby Shampooer of which is very hard and unfriendly; the spin brush would be my selection. You can check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area and also in the yellow pages. Also you can call the Kirby factory to see if they can direct you. The Kirby factory is listed below:
