If you're using a Windows Vista Operating System it'snot possible to transfer the videos from the Camcorder to the Computer using the USB connection. The videos from the tape camcorders cannot be transferred to Windows Vista Operating System as there is no USB Streaming ooption available on the Windows Vista Operating System. The Camcorder uses the USB Streaming function to transfer the videos to the Computer. You may wish to purchase a i.LINK/Firewire cable to connect the Camcorder to the Computer in order to transfer the videos from the Camcorder to the Computer.

There is an update for driver on the Sony website to transfer the videos from the Camcorder to the Computer using the USB cable.

You may also try installing the driver update for the Camcorder. The i.LINK cable gives a better video transfer qulaity than the USB transfer. The i.LINK cable used to connect the Camcorder to the computer depends on the number of pins available on the i.LINK/FIREWIRE port on the Computer. The i.LINK port on the Computer is a D shaped port which is labelled as i, DV, IEEE1394 and Firewire.
Simple answer is it won't work on vista.
A work around is to install the driver using xp campatability mode, you only need the driver then download another video capture programme FX Vidcap works and other do.
you'll find fx here

Have tried USB streaming on and off with both USB and Firewire connections to transfer videos to MacBookPro - no success. I wonder if the fault is with the HandyCam Station (this was the problem last time this happened) Will let you know once I've visited my Sony shop next week!!)
